Description
This was the alternative portrait that was used at a recent signing. I don't know why they chose this over the "Golden AGE" art, but what do I know?Pencil art and digital colouring.
Hope you like!!

Caption should say this: "Your noggin, Use it!"

I like how it brings out his lovely friendliness. His character was so warm and welcoming, someone I would love to just latch onto and take in the moment... until he stepped away and muttered some remark of annoyance XD

Best of the lot, Tom Baker. I heard the Bitish didn't like him as much as the Americans, though. Funny.

You've "Tardised" him completely! Captured his huge ebullient personality and fit it into a simple small gesture. Amazing stuff! I think I've faved most of your art today.

I drew the same portrait! It's in my gallery. Yours looks better, though. It's great

Perhaps the Golden years were less iconic than the Manic years!

True, but weren't all of Tom's years Manic?

They got steadily madder, the stare got wider as did the grin.

Well like some people have pointed out, it is VERY Tom. I think his crazy look appealed to the people choosing the print for signing hahaha! But yes, once again you've gone and done it! Oh! I have to show you the Tom caricature I did last night (as well as a Tom portrait I had to do before I started work on the caricature!)

Thanks.
I can see that this pic is more about Tom's character, but I, rather childishly, love monsters. I just wished I had done a combination of this and the monsters from the other picture, but time (ironically) was against me.
I would love to see your Tom caricature. I could never do good caricature, so I always love to see them and envy the talent.

You should really do another pic of the monsters for yourself! I would love to see that, and I'm sure your watchers would agree with me! Hahaha time...now if we were talking Sapphire and Steel, I would find that ironic there too lol
I posted Tom and one of Poul with SV7 last night before I went home from school. I'm actually quite likeing the process of making them! I never liked caricatures before now, I don't know why...
The I guess we're envious on the same level! If you by any chance envy my caricatures I will continue to envy your portrait works!

Very Tom! Not sure why they didn't choose your other one either but this one is "classic". I can actually hear him harassing some villain or even Mary Tamm's Romana with the wonderful overture, "Would you like a jellybaby?" Did you find out Tom's reaction to it? I think he probably got a tickle out of it!

Though I attended the signing, didn't speak to either of the actors except to ask them to sign my copy of the artwork.
I avoid speaking to people I have drawn, partly because I'm shy and hate it someone else tells them I did the art and I also sound like a complete brain dead moron when confronted by a childhood hero, but mostly because I'm worried that they won't like the art.
I was reliably informed that both Tom Baker and Peter Davison loved the art.
Phew!!!

Did you do this for Tenth Planet or another one of the local WHO shops? Just curious met Paul from Tenth Planet a couple years back. Really nice guy. Would love to do a print or two for his shop.

I use to do stuff for nearly all the Who related shops, 10th planet included, but I now do this exclusively for friends who attend signing sessions.
This turned up in the Stamp shop located in the strand.
I used to know Paul very well. but I think he is no longer there. I can't be sure though.

Thank you very much.
It's pleased me no-end to read comments like that.
I was hoping that his mad scatter brained personality would come through, but one is never sure until someone says it does.
So thank you again.

Thank you very much.
I enjoyed drawing this picture andI think his portrait is stronger than the other one, because, as you said, it was " VERY Doctor Who.

Cheers.
I prefer the other one. This was done in an emergency, so I was a little more slap-dash with it.
I will certainly do more, but for now, this is the last Tom picture and I hopefully will post some of my own stuff....if I ever get off my butt and finish them.
