Description
I made this for some RPG maker 2003 game. Took my entire 2006 summer to get that game 25% done... Maybe I'm not cut out to make games, at least not on my own.Related content

Hey! I make games too! I use game maker 8. My spirtes are nothing as good as yours, though.
TIPS:
1. do NOT start with an RPG games. they take too long and are too advanced for any bum.
2. think about the "big picture". do you know how to make health? what's your storyline? do you know how to program bosses? all things that you probably want to know how to do.
3. create/program the basics (moving, the player, an enemy, the rough-draft level layout) then try to make the hard stuff. If you do it, congrats. if not, then you didn't waste months or years doing the pointless stuff you created before.
4. play around with EVERYTHING (i know you started 7 years ago, but you never know)
5. use your drawing ability as an advantage. if you lose inspiration, draw a comic or some picture of the characters/ storyline. these losers WILL give good compliments and will provide you with motivation knowing that you're making a game and have awesome ideas.
6. use youtube to figure out some programming that you may not understand how to do. or ask some friends that may know how to work it.
7. memorize the words for the program codes (if you use code programing) these programs only read the EXACT words for their functions. (ex: in game maker, the horizontal speed is called "hspeed" and it won't know that you're talking about the horizontal speed without the right word).
8. for you're early games, don't make it too long. you'll lose motivation. fast. make it short, then update it later.
yes, i know this is a LOT and you may know all this, but I'm just trying to help.

I'll take all of your suggestions as good advice, except I'm no programmer. RPG Maker had everything ready for me to design so I don't even know the first thing about scripts and such...
Thanks for your comment. I might be motivated to continue working on this game one day.

I can attest to writing an original story alone.
Characters, timeline, background, setting, relationships, scenarios, weapons (where applied), design (we design with letters!), and the overall story itself can be very overwhelming.

Yes, I too can attest to the badness of making games alone.

25%? Is that the version you gave me? It was pretty cool. I know how hard it is to make a game so I know what that's like. Hey mind if I make fanart of DR?

Excellentes sprites ¿dibujabas directamente en un programa, o boceteabas primero?

Dude, you have to send me a copy of Moo. That is just BAD ASS!
Now, with that out of the way, I'm actually amazed you managed to make 25% all on your own; that's a lot more than I thought you did. Impressive.
Still, it is hard to do it on your own. It can't be too easy coming up with the story, design, and balancing all on your own. Ah well; some other time, eh?
Still, next time you try something like this, let me help with the story element at least! I am confident enough of myself in that particular department to know I would be helpful.
Now, once again; I demand you give me that awe-inspiring Moo. Failing that, I will accept a drawing of either Moo or Torvix (or both). Failure to comply will result in general discomfort for all parties involved.
Critic out.

Ha-ha! I know pal, and I'm always more than glad to help you out. In fact, I have brainstormed a few other ideas that I will eventually share with you as soon as you have the time and I have cleared them out better!
Erm... PLOOKAS!
This house will devour my sanity, I think.

After doing some sleuthin' myself, there's tutorials on DA for how to use MUGEN and Photoshop and RPG Maker and a few other things.

I kinda stopped doing it because it wasn't really going anywhere, It was full of inside jokes and a plot that gives meaning to the word nonsense.
I might get back into it but it will be a totally different story altogether.

My own, with a bit of Tales of Phantasia influence.
