Description
This is for the graduate class ILL 639 Creature Design at the Academy of Art University.Each week we have to submit a page like this. The assignments alternate between real animals and ones that we create (as well as other homework). The pages contain orthographic drawings of the animal normal, skeletal and their musculature structure. It also must have the animals scientific/latin name, a description, a color version, a cartoon version with description, and a height scale where you show a silhouette of the animal next to a human.
Also, the professor, Terryl Whitlatch, is totally awe inspiring. She has designed creatures for Star Wars, Dragon Heart, Jumangi, and a whole lot of other huge movies and projects. Every time I see her work I'm amazed!
Protego Canis is latin for "Guard Dog".
This is my fictitious canine creation. He is a genetically altered guard dog from a post apocalyptic time period.

Yay Man!! Glad to see you back on here!! How have you been holding up? How are the classes treating ya! This looks like a cool and neat assignment! What other kind of creatures did you come up with!? Hope all is well weith ya bud!

Hey Wilson, I've finally got back on DA after a long time. Just been really ill, but I'm getting better.
Classes are rough and a lot of work, but most of them are very worthwhile. I'm loving the "creature design" class and would love to be a creature designer for video games, movies or television. So far I've done a real and fictional; primate, canine and feline. We've done the real horse page and I'm now working on the fictional horse.
If I can get ahead of the classwork I'm going to keep re-working old assignments with the insights from the critiques and once improved I'll post them here on DA. I think my fictional feline is awesome and only have a few things to fix before being posted

Ah man, I'm glad to hear you are feeling better. I know those classes are rough, I still don't know how you handle that workload and hold a job at the same time! You are my hero!
Creature Design sounds awesome! Sadly I don't thinkI have the creativity to do something like that! SO my hat is off to you once again!

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I'm not on DA much anymore.
We'll, time isn't as hard to come by anymore. I can't work. The infection ate away at my spine and we think possibly some internal organs too, but still need test to really know about that. But, on the bright side I have more time to be creative
Nah, seeing your illustrations I know you'd be awesome in creative design. So many of your illustrations are extremely creative. I often go over your gallery and wish I'd thought of some of your cool concepts.
Alright Wilson, I'm going to head out. This is one of the few days my back doesn't feel so bad so I'm going to take advantage of it
