Description
Continuing to do these little mock ups. This time, an idea for how Kid Icarus' comeback would have looked had Sakurai and HAL Labs. gotten their hands on it back in the day. Inspiration from Axelay, and of course HAL's own Hyper Zone.Related content

I believe they are called monoeyes or something. They're pretty common enemies in Kid Icarus.

Monoeyes? What kind of name IS that? Who names these things in the first place?!

Well, I would guess that it had something to do with them only having one eye. Given the time, I'm guessing they were named by a programmer at Nintendo of Japan or a confused translator at Nintendo of America.

This is nice. Looks more Hyper Zone and Space Harrier than Axelay to me. Except the clouds....that is screaming "Axelay"....and now I have the level 1 music from that game in my head.

Yeah, I can see the Hyper Zone / Space Harrier vibe, they were definitely major influences as well.

Dammit! I thought this was the cancelled game.
If they made it and finished it like this it wouldve blown my mind and become an instant favorite.
Its sad that they cancelled it(for an unknown reason).

It reminds me of the bonus stage from Sky Blazer.

Skyblazer's a game I always wanted to play, but I always forget about. I'll have to track it down.

These flying stages always reminded me of Sega's After Burner and Space Harrier. Now that I see it in SNES-style, Nintendo could've had one hell of a lawsuit of Uprising was made 10 years ago.

If this was a reality it would be the single greatest SNES public domain ROM ever created.

Go for it! They're both pretty early SNES games, and so are mainly just pretty Mode 7 demos, but there's some fun to be had with both!
I totally forgot to mention Space Harrier!
