Description "I can't be sure, whispered Jayazi to Sigrid, but I have the feeling Kalam is not this bad an bowman. I think he miss on purpose."
"Humph, grunted Sigrid in reply. To have the opportunity to stand close to this pretty young pest, you mean ?"
Vessla the weasel looked as his mistress, uncertain of her feelings flowing in by the strange link with the young Ulfen witch.

A look at Archery Lesson 2 shows that Sigrid is correct - he has the arrow on the wrong side of the bow, which would make him less accurate.

I should agree with you, most of the time. I first put the arrow on the right side of the bow for the look, and as you point, it could explain why Kalam is so innacurate. However, putting the arrow on the left side of the bow is an european technic (and from that American too). Modern bows enforce this because there is a special carving in the bow itself which give no choice to the user. For ancient or medieval bows, with a symetrical structure, putting the arrow on the left or right side of the bow is more a point of technique or culture. Mongols, Scythians, Arabians, Turks, even the pacific amerindian tribes (such as the yahi), were used to put the arrow on the right side of the bow. As Kalam is a Keleshite (in Golarion an Arabian culture), the pose could be correct for him. But I must confess it is not on purpose. And you directed me to some great pictures. Thank you for the opinion and the links.

You are more than welcome. The so-called Western style of archery is easier to learn as it is easier for many to aim with the arrow on that side of the bow. Otherwise, bow hunters such as myself would use the other side; I don't care about being proper, I want to hit what I am aiming at. There are left-hand bows so the shape of the bow is not really a barrier, either. According to one text about Arabian archery I looked at, if you want to keep him using the side shown, he really should be pulling the bowstring with his thumb and drawing it back to his ear. His grip as shown had me convinced he wasn't trying to hit the target. (Hit on her, for sure!)

*Minor point: The Pacific Amerindian tribes were not always pacific. (Pacific as in region is a proper noun, otherwise, pacific means peaceful or even pacifistic.)

*Grammar Nazi alert!!

Pacific, a typewriting mistake, occurs often to me. I shoot bow myself (target only) and loading and aiming are indeed easier by the left side. I think putting the arrow on the right is a tehnique derived from horse archery, as most of the cultures using it are known for their horse archers. Maybe something about the loading while riding ? And you are rigth about the right hand grip, but some hand poses are hard to made with 3D characters, and above all I did not think about that at the time. The topic was the shooter distraction, and you guess right, he miss because his focus is on her and not on the target.
Thanks for the comments.
