Gary, he noted me and said we could do an art trade and I agreed, well up to now I haven't seen the trade just yet. I'm not suggesting he won't do it but I figure that is how he has convinced most people to hook him up with art. I don't do too many art trades(probably should do more)but I figured what the heck. I hope he is true to his word, and he does up a piece of my character El Muerto. I might note some of the other artists and ask them the same question. We'll keep in touch and I will keep you updated.

He noted me, too and I gave him my commission rates. It would be different if he were a regular watcher or someone who had made himself known to me over time. I actually found the idea offensive and I'm surprised you didn't. You probably didn't even look at what you'd get in trade. It's not like if was offering a trade. It's just my opinion that you should value your skill more. It's pretty likely he'll hold up his end of the deal, but I wonder when you see what you get will you be alright with it. Hey I read over the conversation and I'm sorry I've offended any artists but I have always held up to trades and have not forgotten this one which I am still completing! I'm sorry considering that one I'm in highschool ad don't get a lot of time to finish things as fast because I like to take my time and effort for example this is when I was younger

So please don't insult my work, and as for free? Most of the work done for me has been trades and commissions that I've paid and work for but yes there is some free art I have received for referring people to artists and promoting their work on my deviant group and personal pages along with various social media. Again sorry for offending anyone but I'm true to my word and my artwork so If I have to start sending free art to everyone to prove it then fine by me because I don't want people thinking I'm some kind of scam artist only wanting free stuff when I value hardwork and talent! and *jmqrz, you'll get your finished character soon!

Actually, I wrote that you WOULD hold up your side of the deal. I just said that given your apparent skill level, and coming from out of the blue, that it wasn't worth it. I'm not saying anything bad about you and I just figured you were young and just didn't know better. I'm more annoyed at the artists who gave you the free art(or traded) because now you think it's alright. Kudos to you for getting some pretty good pieces, but for all the people you solicited, I wonder who responded like I did or just ignored you? My friend here is very good but doesn't get a lot of traffic on his page, but go ahead and see what response you get from or or they might just respond with an lol to your trade request.
What you're offering is not an equal value, so it's like trading a quarter for a nickel so you might as well call it free.
But, I digress. If people WANT to give you free art, then it's their prerogative.

I've asked many artists and you're right my art may not even come close to the caliber of skill that some people offer and that's why I offer both trades and promotions, I'm looking to get my character recognized and the artists as well because I want artists to prosper bad get the attention they deserve. True some people have denied and I don't get angry because I know where people are coming from and they make sense when they already have plenty of self promoting an their work is out there but for those who don't get recognized, I help out as best as I can both in and out of deviantart so that they can reach the top and get noticed. Will I do any drastic measures maybe not but help is help and so I know it's not enough to give back for their work and so that's why I keep on trying because I want to show these artists that ther work is worth more. But if artists want money I pay them when it comes to commissions and if I really would like their work ASAP but some people like yourself I hold out on because I know it won't always be cheap and I have a lot of things to pay for being in highschool and headed to college so when I have money on the side I buy commissions from artists such as yourself, I don't look for free I only offer trades and promoting as of other means of payment only for artists who think it's worth it. If it's not then I gladly pay for their work as soon as I can

Heh. You protest too much. You have done no wrong and there's no need for you to defend yourself. Not trying to tear you down, buddy, just enjoy the art you get from artists. I know you appreciate it. It's quite obvious. I love getting fan art for my characters, too. Got a whole fav section devoted to it. Keep growing as an artist.

If I offended you, I apologize, that's the problem when reading something as opposed to speaking face to face with someone. I was re-reading the conversation and it does come off as though I was coming down on you, but that was not my intent. I like the design of your character, and regardless of your skill level, I did the piece because the design is cool. No worries It was my mistake that lead to it all so I'm very sorry once again and it will definitely not happen again! and hopefully I can get my wacom tablet soon so that I can finish el muerto in digital inks and colors

Yeah, I'm still learning to color so bear with my inexperience.I'm really trying to make time for my art and learn how to color and work digitally. All my friends here really inspire me to do better, I look at all you have accomplished and it just ratchets up the motivation motor. Maybe we can get together on a jam piece, I'll note you and we can hash out a gameplan.
