Okay guys, this is my first post here on DeviantArt, but I've been an artist ever since I could remember, sketching, designing, writing, the works lol. Long story short, I'm now 20 years old, almost 21. Currently in College majoring in Graphic Design and minoring in Art. Hoping to make a name for myself here.

Anyway without further ado, here's my redesign of the Rhedosaurus from THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS!

I was inspired by the Argentine Black and White Tegus, as I myself own 2 tegus, both a Chacoan Giant as well as a Chacoan Red. After watching Harryhausens film, I realized how the Beast would make a perfect representation of a prehistoric Tegu of some sort.

I went into it thinking what would I do if I were in charge of a Remake of the film? I'd treat it similar to Peter Jackson's King Kong 2005, with some subtle variations in the subtext.

Such as having the keratin of the species be made with similar properties to gold, thus causing a gold rush underneath a massive Antarctic glacier, which hides a cave of all sorts of creatures. Divers and poachers run to the opportunity, and find a surplus of golden bones that could be sold for unfathomable amounts of money. They even find small flying creatures that contain ivory in their large teeth and wings. Upon attempting to exit the cave however, they awaken the Rhedosaurus, who stalks them in the darkness, they start to run once they realize somethings not right. However they run right into the Rhedosaurus who mauls them and escapes the cave, headed straight for NY..

I have plans for a whole line up of kaiju and beasts, so this being #1, is kinda special in a way, as it's my first real dive into this kinda platform. Thanks for checking my work out, and any thoughts or concerns please be sure to comment!!
