Description
Woo. Done for a friend of mine of one of his characters. Took a long time but I got really into it for some reason. Usually I half ass his characters since he asks me to draw one every other day, but I liked this guy.

Cool blue fire + awesome leather armor = epic win
Where's the guy from? He reminds me of Neverwinter Nights, somehow.

Love how the lighting is done in this picture, the flames are done perfectly as is the armor. There could be more soft contrasts on the face, not to make it so plain. (The half-shadows) Also, the fingers of HIS left hand (the one on the right when you look at him) are kind of disfigured, they shouldn't be so visible since they should be the ones that emmit light, right? So no dark lines there. At least not SO dark. And also, the features on the face should be more thought-through, some of the shadows seem too dark.
But all in all, this one caught my eye really much :3 I know that I'm not a professional and I hope that I haven't irritated you with my rambling!~

Thank you for the great comment, it's very constructive feedback and I'll keep it in mind (and your rambling is useful to me as an artist to improve myself, so it's always welcome).
I'll admit I always have problems on the face. It's mostly the noses. They drive me crazy. It takes me an hour or two to get the noses to a happy place and then I'm so tired of looking at the face I just sigh and move on. I'll keep that in mind for my next piece and thank you again!

And don't worry too much about the nose. The way I do it is just add a pyramid-like structure to the face. It's not that hard, but at first I ripped my hair out till I could get it right.
I could do you a tutorial if you would like, but I don't want to bother anyone if you really know how to do it ^^"

If you're doing a piece and want to snap some screenshots along the way and whip up a tutorial, I'd definitely check it out, but don't do it just for me <3

I really like his expression and posture, he seems so menacing 
And all the metallic chains look great too (although they don't reflect any of the blue, even though they're made of metal -or are they?), they look (very) real.

haha They burn! Cold fire burns red, warm orange, hot white, really hot goes green, and after that it turns blue when it's like super hot. I'm not sure if it goes purple after that 
And yeaaaaah I forgot to draw the blue light on the metal hahaha. :c Thanks for pointing it out another thing to go and fix if I get the energy/time.

I wish the border had come out a bit smoother. It looks a little choppy to me. But I'm really bad at using Photoshop's pen tool. Illustrator was sooo much easier. D:

Big difference between then and now, but I never had 'problems' drawing with a mouse. It was different and more work, for sure, but you can technically get very similar results.

I guess you expect working with a mouse would take more time whereas a tablet, it's much quicker. It's pretty hilarious though LOL.

well cause with a mouse everything takes forever. Drawing lines and making the edges sharp cause you have to either work with a tiny brush and go back and forth or what I did is use a huge brush and then use an eraser to cut off extra bits. Then painting inside the lines even is difficult because again you can't change brush sizes easily or use the pressure so I guess you just get used to everything being hard lol. now I'm like WWEEEE PEEEEEN SO EASY DONE. Oh wait it doesn't look good lol.
