What a lovely coloured horse! Nice and chunky too just out of curiosity (I ride english so not sure how it works in the western horse world), are the horses encouraged to work on the forehand in the pleasure events?

Not sure, i don't do the western pleasure ring. But I've never been very impressed with Charolot Ranch horses. They've changed out their stock not is seems, but they made a name for themselves in the app ring by breeding HYPP horses years ago, which is how I came to know them. So I guess that's always left some kind prejudice of in my mind.

That's a bit like playing with fire, isn't it? Do you have any shots of this fella standing still? I'd love to see how he's put together.

I love how he's reaching down and really rounding his back to warm himself up.

He was a feisty one that day.

Peanut Roller!
It's sad how far the western pleasure horses have gone.

Not a peanut roller, he's just stretching. WP horses are required to show with a level topline these days. I ride an English jumper that can canter like that when you let her.

It's slowly changing around here at the paint shows -nodnod- More horses are now doing a regular canter instead of the slow, almost trot canter.

Hopefully I'll be able to take some piccies at one of the shows this spring and see how things have changed.
