Description "You have promised I'll eat from your plate and sleep in your bed!". A scene from The Frog Prince, Brothers Grimm's fairytale. The princess hoped the frog would never find his way to the castle, but he did, and when the king had heard the whole story he told his daughter to keep her promise. (The moral of the story is: never let your parents know anything.) Free-time drawing with ink and pencils.

Haha great illustration, and I agree with you about the moral! I think it's a bit problematic that her parents forced her to let anyone in her bed who she didn't want to have there, regardless if he was a frog or not! I'm all for choice about who you let in your bed

Oh yes, Grimm brothers are rather controversial today In some stories even more then this. Thanks for visit!

Good point! I personally didn't like the story's ending. I mean, I felt the more fitting one would be when he turned back to a human and she's all interested in him, he be like  You didn't want me when I was a frog, well now I don't you as a human. Therefore moral would be: Don't break your promises...because you'll miss out on a hot prince  . Anyway, this is really beautiful and I love how you captured the scene.      Fantastic Job!

Thank you very much! Interesting review. I don't know if old Grimm's stories are so great stories for children (when the accent falls on "for children", probably not!) but they surely make people discuss things

Your Welcome! And thank you  . I agree, it's fun to talk about these old fairy tales and other works of literature, since it is one the gateways of seeing into the past. And yeah, Grimm fairy tales are probably not deemed super child friendly by today's standards, but I guess since children during that time lived in a much harder reality, parents/adult figures felt it was necessary to teach them "harsher" lessons in their fables  .

True, childhood was much less protected... it must be the reason.

I hope that was the reason anyway, otherwise people sure did like scare children back then  .

Princess: "Don't you dare."
Princess: "I ain't down for this."
Princess: "Ain't nobody got time for this."

It's a great image!

and true enough you should keep figures of authority in the dark. I wrote all my own
sick notes in high school - the vice principal never saw my mother's handwriting.

Wonderful picture!  I like this story.  The princess was certainly not sweet--she was actually quite selfish.  I liked that instead of spoiling her the king was quite stern and rightly ordered her to keep her promise since they should never be broken.  Haha--my daughters would agree with your moral!
