Description
A personal scene I've been wanting to draw for a long time!I originally planned to have it ready in time for spring, but unfortunately I was a bit late on that.. oh well >v<;
These little bird pokémon are enjoying their time together under a fresh spring rain. Just watch out for those Stunfisk!
Thank you SO much TsaoShin for the DD feature! I'm thrilled to be able to share this one with you all! ^v^

This is a work of art which seems a painted canvas. You did an awesome and amazing job and all those details are worthy of the proper attention and you really deserved the Daily Deviation recognition.

Awww, well you're more than welcome, Miss Punkster! I'm just sorry I'm often so slow at making them! I know I'm not always online, but whenever I do get a chance to look through your and others' beautiful art, I like to build people up and spread some cheer.
And I totally understand, that's perfectly fine if you're not always able to reply! I'm just happy my and others' comments give you encouragement either way.

Wow, what an absolutely stunning piece if art! I love it to bit ! I love how the edges of the picture are framed by leaves, which conveys the impression that you are suddenly stumbling upon this adorable scene after pushing aside some vegetation. In a way, it can also be interpreted as a camara shot into a bush (that's just how realistic it looks
!).
And then there are the Pokémon themselves. I can't emphasize enough how much I adore them ! They all look like they are having a wonderful time in some much needed rain
! I am baffled by your ability to draw convincing expressions on such seemingly simplistic faces. My favourite ones are the bird backing away from the Stunfisk, the one fluttering its wings in the water, and the one observing the bathing, who seems rather delighted. Please forgive my embarrasing ignorance... I recognize all of the Pokémon by appearance, but I forgot their names
. Could you please tell them to me
?
However, one thing I have noticed with your art on some occasions, which occurs again here, is that I sometimes have trouble figuring out the perspective. For example, I had a hard time distinguishing the rain drops from the background, and the standing water is so transparant that, at first, I didn't notice that there was any at all. I'm sorry if I'm disappointing you by saying this >////< . Despite this observation, I'm still enjoying this picture immensely. You have still done an incredible job; the problem is probably just that I have always struggled with perspective. My spatial skills are very poor .
Either way, you can certainly congratulate yourself on this piece of art. In fact, I think it's worthy of becoming a Daily Deviation !

Hi Rocket! It's good to hear from you.. thank you as always for your thoughtful comments! I'm happy to know how much you enjoy it
Of course! There's Fletchling , Taillow , Starly , and Pikipek - I chose them because I felt that they contrasted well against the surrounding background, and each other.
Ahh I understand, perspective is a tricky thing to master at times! That was part of what made this drawing a bit challenging. I don't often do top-down perspectives, and so I feel that I still have much to learn! Natural forest environments are usually more difficult to determine proper perspective, as there are often hills, slopes, cliffs, and other things that add curvature to a scene, unlike say, a simple living room for example.
For the raindrops, I chose to show more of their actual shape rather than straight lines to make the scene more realistic I suppose? Just something different I wanted to try out. So I do understand why they appear more hidden. I also added a motion blur effect to add an illusion of movement. Regarding the water, lets's see.. I guess I wanted to show the water fairly clear, without hints of blue, to show that it is fairly shallow. And also because the scene takes place on a fairly cloudy day, and because of the forested environment, there isn't much reflection shown from the sky. So that in turn makes the water itself a bit more indistinguishable.
I think that's all that I wanted to say! I hope you understand my thoughts, and I very much appreciate your feedback. It helps me learn as an artist! And wow, I'm flattered you think so!! I will think about suggesting it for a feature!

You're welcome! I believe it had been some time since I last commented on one of your drawings .
Thank you for the information! They do contrast well against the background indeed ! I think Taillow is my favourite one of them, but I like bird-type Pokémon in general
.
Oh, I didn't have any problems noticing the relief or the vegetation, so don't worry about that. In this case, it had mostly to do with the transparency of the water. Especially when combined with an abundance of details like in this picture, I tend to overlook less conspicuous things like that . However, having read your explanation, I now completely understand why you opted to picture the water that way. I know that water tends to look more invisible in darkened environments and rain water is generally less colourful than, for example, sea water (not only due to its shallowness, but I believe also due to its chemical composition), so it would merely be logical to make the water, including the raindrops, so transparant. I admire your aim to make everything as realistic as possible. I think it's one of the main reasons that you have earned yourself a few Daily Deviations
.
My comments weren't supposed to be outright critisicm, by the way. I merely wanted to explain what I, personally, struggle with when observing artworks. As I said, I have some trouble interpreting space at times, so other people may not have the same problem . However, if you learned something from it, I would be really happy about that anyway >v< .

This one took me probably a couple of days in total hours! But I used a lot of my own custom brushes for the leaves and such, so that helped a lot to save time!
