I know, right? Krita's really good with that hand-painted feel.

I love when things look good, but still seem like human hands made them. That's why Ed Edd n Eddy's among my favorite animation styles. ^^

It's about the Cartoon Network style(not calling it the "CalArts style".) I have nothing against Cartoon Network, CalArts or the people that hail from either, but every show on Cartoon Network now looks almost identical regardless of where artists come from. Everything's thin lines and rounded shapes. It was appealing at first, but now it's just getting repetitive and dull seeing this style on everything. Not helping matters, they started applying it to properties that worked better because they have their own rules and motifs in character design, like Powerpuff Girls and Thundercats. At least Nickelodeon accepts different art styles.

I think my ultimate problem with stuff like Powerpuff Girls 2016 is that it doesn't feel like people made it to me. Everything's evenly timed and symmetrical, which makes it floaty and stilted. The original's visual style invoked both Hanna-Barbara and a bit of anime, where it felt alive even without lively animation. The only feeling the reboot's visual style invokes in me is a lifeless, mechanical feel, where the only imperfections to be found are blatant mistakes that should have been fixed before it got out. It has imperfections, but it's not imperfect in a good way.
