Description
NOTE: the final version(s) will have dirty and damaged armor instead of the shiny clean surfaces you see herei mainly did this to further test how these things would look with modeled details, instead of textured ones like on the Space Marine multiplayer assets. i'm quite satisfied with it, but a lot will change still.

I dig this. It reminds me of a Iron Man/Warhammer crossover.

i really dislike EC's Chaos Marines so please try to avoid that comparison
they're too clean, too shiny, too tabletop-like, their armour hath not the grimdark. I try to strike a good balance between neat and easy to take in, and corrupted and worn out.

I was referring to the fact that you can make those shit models look good. Cuss chaos marines in EC are literally just regular marines but with horns on their helmet.Β

They're utter shit. They don't even look like tabletop marines, who are actually fairly bulky and almost have gorilla or dwarvish proportions compared to a normal human. I mean, look at the new painting set.

i see what you mean, by tabletop-like i was referring to their overly simplified surface detailΒ (or lack thereof) and plastic outlook. it's even worse when you remember that five years ago Relic came out with this awesomeness:

What's worse is that both Behavior's and Relic's wish to make the models "look more like the tabletop" is full of shit (for EC and DOW3), because drybrushing makes models look gritty as hell.

All it is, is devs making excuses to make their workload smaller.

It's ok to not like it. To each their own.
But to ignore the host of issues that would arise had they taken another approach is just plain ignorance at best.
If you were even an amateur modeler you would know exactly why they chose the style they did.

No, they chose the style they did to dumb the game down and make units pop out from the background, along with saving them more work so they can just shovel the game out ASAP. The game would be fine even if they did so little as just port models from DOW 2, as they look leagues better even if their poly count and resolution is worse.

All I hear is 'I've never authored any game ready models in my life before.'
It is an awful idea to generate edgewear and leave proportions unexaggerated for low fidelity low screenspace pre-alpha models running on pbr. Especially when their engine is lacking environment lighting probes at a glance.
Wow it's almost like stuff isn't done yet. Imagine that.

More corruption. More mutation. More spikes and damnation. And how the hell are the bolts still in the magazine?

Warp magic! and yes, more spikes are coming. i'll also try to implement stuff like flayed skin trophies and sneering daemonic faces. everything's in the early stages.

yes, originally, with skeleton and hands (hand base anyway) from Space Marine
the amount of custom shit per model is starting to get rather ridiculous

oh yeah, i'll try to add both. maybe even make a separate model for corrupted marines, so people can have that extra variation.
