I honestly like theise proportions compare to the forge world or games workshop models.

May The Emperor shine upon you, brother Joazzz2. This is my favorite pattern Terminator, but I must ask, would you include any bodygroups for the Legio Custodes? The Legio Custodes are badass, being they are the Emperor's most trusted bodyguards, also because it looks god-like on a Cataphractii pattern.

i'll do the Custodes much later as a separate project; it'll be a while before i get to them, because in addition to the Marines i have to do the Orks and Imperial Guard first. probably Chaos too. but the Custodes will most certainly be made, as i can't help but love the design of those guys. they'll have the appropriate Terminator and Dreadnought designs too, plus the ancient Grav-Rhino prototypes.

First of all, you've done a terrific job, but it looks a little to me as though the shoulders of the guy in the terminator suit have been dislocated to put the arms where they are. Did you have to play around a bit with the arms to make it work?

Joazzz2 In reply to fatbeardC34 [2014-11-04 10:15:39 +0000 UTC]
yes, unfortunately i had to move the arms outwards and the head down to achieve the properly hunched Terminator armor look. i tried building the armor on a regular-proportioned Marine at first but couldn't get it to look right.

This brings up some interesting questions about space marine anatomy. When a marine gets terminator honours, do they get surgery to fit into the armour?

nah, it's just that 40k isn't consistent even with the smallest things.

True 'dat. But I must admit, I would really love to see your take on a suit of terminator armour built for a space marine with normal human proportions. I always thought the hunched look was a result of the termie suits being derived from hazardous environment suits warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Teβ¦ so they look a littleΒ like astronaut suits and deep sea diving suits, just without the bubble visors and with giant pauldrons:Β ia.utep.edu/Portals/304/2008/2β¦ Β forgetomori.com/wp-content/uplβ¦ That's how I like to think of them at least.Β
From what I can tell, marines are really just 'big men' with fundamentally human proportions, just that the armour distorts and exaggerates their proportions for that intimadating, hyper-masculine appearanceΒ mikhailsavier.deviantart.com/aβ¦
sorry for the link bombing, just trying to better articulate myself. Anyway, I really like your work, I really hope to see more of it.

currently my biggest personal issue with this particular thing is that the chest armor is too narrow vertically. can't really fix the mesh itself at this point without stretching the texture, so i'll have to find some other way to fix that

The heights are simple smallest to largest. small(human), Medium(Space Marine) and Tall and a little bit bigger(Terminator). Love that you've been making these models, not just for you, but for anyone who wants to use it and in my case using these modes to make cool references for my art. By the way the terminator does have to be slightly taller a side from that everything is SPOT ON.Β

This is great, Now I have a good point of referance for proportions.

someone pointed out that the Terminator is supposed to be slightly taller than a normal Marine while someone else said afterwards that the size i had before - this one - was just right
dunno who to believe

i noticed a little rigging error: there's a black spike protruding from the rear of the left thigh in the upper pic. that's been fixed on the model itself now.

that's a good question. i need to make
-the Tartaros pattern Terminator (and finish the bodygroups for all the Terminators)
-then a Librarian
-then a Terminator Librarian and a Terminator Chaplain (won't take much time since i'll just be bashing stuff i already have together)
-then take care of all the guns and other weapons including shields
-can't forget the Scouts either!
-and then i might make Dreadnoughts (regular metal box with enough bodygroup options to cover all the Furioso, Venerable, Siege etc subtypes, and a Contemptor)
after that i'll compile all the Legions and Chapters that i'm planning to have (with some Legions having their specific design quirks like robes and hoods for the Dark Angels and all the viking things for the Wolves) and send the most of them along with the texture templates to my small team of reskinners while i take care of a few of the Chapters/Legions myself.
the full set is going to have all the original First Founding Legions/Chapters and a bunch of select or important successors. i'm planning to make it so that, for example, the Imperial Fists pack also includes Black Templars and Crimson Fists, Raven Guard come with Raptors, Thousand Sons come with Blood Ravens and so on. 2-4 successors plus the Founding Chapter would be a good number of things per pack. a special, bigger kit called "The Badab War Package" including Carcharodons and Mantis Warriors etc would be great to have too.
it really isn't that much work but it's going to take time, since almost all of the models will have a wide range of features and bodygroup options
after that stuff is done and out for public use... i don't know. Chaos, maybe? might make the Orks first since i could get them done much faster.

You one to two successor chapters for each legion I gotta ask any chance Flesh Tearers is one of those for the blood angels also any chance of a non terminator librarian?

yes a non-Terminator Librarian will be made and Flesh Tearers will be included in the Blood Angels pack, part because they're some of my favorite loyalists
