Haha, yup, this was sort of born of the art director's self indulgence XD

Haha, yup. In fact, the art director sent me a photo of one, and was like, "Please turn this into an adorable four-legged creature!" Coincidentally, I had recently stumbled upon which for some reason I absolutely adored; as a result, I sort of made it like a salamander-nudibranch :b

Hehe, thank you very much He's pretty much directly referenced from a nudibranch, which the art director loved and wanted to see in four-legged form :b

I honestly would feel bad about killing this guy.

Haha, I'm sure you're not the only one ;_;
To be honest, I think that's part of this fellow's gimmick - he charms other creatures/characters into protecting/fighting for him.

Nudibranch, FTW! This guy is adorable! I think I'd squee if I ever met him in er...'person'.

Hahah, yeah :3 Thanks a lot! I was basically given a photo of one, and told, "THIS. Give this guy four legs and keep him cute!"

Well, I'd say you did an awesome job of fulfilling the requirements! Meeting this one in-game will get lots of "D'awwww!" reactions, I suspect.
GM: Ok everyone, roll D10.
Players: What for?
GM: To see if you fail your 'cuteness overload' resistance, of course.

Ahaha, it's kind of true, actually. I believe the creature has like a charm effect versus your will - if you fail, you're compelled to protect it :b Something like that XD

Heheheheee! Why am I not surprised? That's pretty neat. I wonder what the benefits an individual or party would gain from having one of these as a companion. *Cogitate, cogitate, cogitate.*

Probably give a bonus to diplomacy or general charisma or something?

I could see that. Or bonus to bartering & negotiation skills. (He's so adorable, the opponent wold be distracted and not perform their best, perhaps.)

Haha, go into a store, pull out your Zuga, and let everyone coo over him while the party rogue makes off with all the goods.

Hahah, yes, it is, isn't it? Although really I was just given a picture of a nudibranch and told, "Give this four legs!"

I just looked those up. Funny looking things, aren't they? Say, what's your favorite invertebrate? I don't remember if I've asked you that before...

jocarra In reply to Siochanna [2014-05-19 05:05:15 +0000 UTC]
I don't think I really have one :b There are lots of really cool ones, but invertebrates have never really been my thing... uh...
Octopuses are really awesome and smart. Mantis shrimp are cool. I like crabs and lobsters, and not just 'cause they're tasty :b Uhh... Yeah, those are really the first ones that come to mind. Lots of invertebrates are super cool, just don't really stick in my brain the same way vertebrates do.

I like octopus. I've always loved conch shells, though, and for a while there I had a passing interest in Cambrian life. Anomalocaris was a fun one, and that one with all those spindles coming off of it. I forget what that one was called.

Oh, I figured out which one I was referring to (the one with spindles): Hallucigenia
