Description Player class artwork for Endless Realms , a D&D-like "pen and paper" fantasy RPG I'm working for.

Bards and jesters are two sides of the same coin, both using a combination of Order and Chaos magic to buff allies and debuff enemies, respectively.Β  Here we have a Dengu bard accompanying a Kalamir jester as they (literally) work their magic on their audience

I don't understand the need for so many classes in a game
There's three main classes (warrior, wizard and rogue) with their own characteristics and multiple subclasses and, if you wanna be very creative, these classes can overlap (warrior+wizard, wizard+rogue, rogue+warrior, warrior+wizard+rogue)
Bards are literally good only for entertainment, not fighting or adventuring

As for the drawing itself it's great

*chuckles* Sometimes, people don't have the best imagination - while most possible classes can fall roughly into the categories "wizard-like", "rogue-like" or "fighter-like," it can add a lot of player enthusiasm and flavour to have specific unique classes, and serve as examples of what a creative player can come up with.

But anyway, I tend to disagree Β I sympathise, though - the first time I heard of bards as a class in D&D I originally thought that was dumb, "What, so they just sing at guys?" but it actually makes sense in a lot of ways. Β The best, most practical example I can think of is the Jester class in Darkest Dungeon - it's a game about how absolutely horrifying, depressing and generally awful adventuring and fighting monsters can be, how stresses wear on moral, and how important moral can become on the characters' health and wellbeing. Β The jester is the only class that can single-handedly bring a devastatedly depressed party ready to basically give up on life back into fighting form.

Basically, bard-type classes don't necessarily use melee or magic weapons, but force of personality and charisma to accomplish their goals, and I think that's a novel approach and more reasonable than it first seems. Β

oh man what a cute pair! i really like how they both turned out. i think i would probably try playing both of these classes myself. Then again i am the type of player who will sing for my group if i play a bard

I've always sort of wanted to play a bard - our roommate will probably play one if we start a new UK-based campaign

I could think of some fun was to use those juggling daggers assuming they have a knife throwing skill.

Yeah, I was told to give her a few normal throwing knives on her belt as well as juggling knives, so that's a good hint

It would be a great way to assassinate a noble. Distract the crowd with one jester or bard, then have the other throw the knives they were juggling into some unprotected vital areas. And if anyone notices and raises an alarm you have a jester's make-up and mask to hide your identity and are already armed.

It'd also probably cause a bit of a panic amongst the crowd, which might let you get away easier afterwards?Β  Just might be hard to get away right off the bat, since a jester sticks out quite a bit

Which is why you have street clothes under it, duck into a hiding spot, remove the jester's clothes, and be on your way

So I could finally be the ultimate distraction.... a BARSTER!

or Jard, depending on how much denim the DM will let me wear.

These two make a great pair, each perfectly contrasting and complimenting the other in appearance and skill.

Also, love the colours and textures in this piece.Β  Well done!

Thanks a lot!Β  And yeah, there was a lot of room for textures and such on this piece with all the flashy fabrics and such :3
