Well, let's see, I quite recently saw Quidam (Cirque Du Soleil) and have allways been a big fan, this picture was very influenced by that style I think...plus the kick-ass, crazy acrobat people...The concept for this is a lady who is dreaming. Her shadow comes to life through her dream and strangely it watches over her, perhaps they do care about her, for without her they could not exist.
"The feeling is strange, it does not seem possible that such an average woman could dream up such strange and indevidual creatures, but they are hers. Beautiful as indeviduals but not as a whole. If others would see it, they would hate it. The three cannot hide, they are open to the world's criticism. Will their creator protect them from the hate of the world when she awakes? Or will they fade back into a dream?..."

I once had the pleasure of seeing Cirque Du Soleil's Alegria. Magnificent performances. (I've got Quidam on dvd somewhere too.) I can see how they would inspire such lovely work.

I saw them with a couple of friends and when it ended and we left, we stood around and said nothing but "wow. Just wow." for about five minutes. The whole experience is just mind blowing. Had I actually paid full price for my ticket, it would have been worth it.
