To start, I'm just going to say that I'm actually going to go out of my way to not have too many two-pagers this chapter. There were so many in the last chapter, it was kinda killing me, so I'm keeping it as light as I can. This instance in particular is an exception because it was written as one page, but I don't know how I thought that was all going to fit on just one page. XD
Anyway, getting on-topic: I can't claim to speak for all trans women, but physicality in a relationship can be tricky when one party is repulsed by their own anatomy. Even in the case of Rain and Emily who aren't doing anything more than kissing. Rain's body will respond to certain stimuli whether she wants it to or not. And then there's "morning wood", which is just kinda what happens when she wakes up. Whatever the cause, it's hard to deal with when you don't want it. And as though it has a mind of it's own, it does not like to be ignored...
If I may be very honest, when my wife and I first started going out, I was afraid of her even looking at that part of me. But then she said stuff like, "So what? You're still a woman" without batting an eyelash. It doesn't erase the dysphoria, but it did (eventually) make me at least a little less self-conscious around her. And that's what I was going for with Emily here. She knew about Rain's body going into this, and she accepts that and tries to take as neutral a stance as she can. It doesn't solve the issue, but maybe in time it can help not freak out so much over genuinely accidental contact.
On a side note, as a disclaimer I should say that some trans folk have less/no qualms with the parts they were born with. I don't want to give off the idea that hating your body is a requirement for being transgender, because it really isn't. We all experience transness differently. It's just that in the case of Rain (and myself) she is exceedingly uncomfortable with her anatomy.

oh I feel so bad for Rain
something I would like to ask, when she go's on HRT will she still have " morning wood" or will the HRT stop it?

It really depends on how she is doing it. If she uses high doses of blockers, she will neurologically castrate herself, meaning she will kill the sexual part of her libido and not have morning woods either.
If she choses only Estradiol and maybe even progesterone, she can still experience erections, appearances of morning woods are drastically reduced, though. But she would be overall more healthy.

A bit of additional info, because very few endocrinologists are aware of it:
Estradiol alone in a proper dose (which is different for every individual and could lie between 80 and 200pg/ml) is enough to suppress testosterone to a female level where no further virilisation happens and some of the already happened virilisation might be undone.
You don't want it to be zero, since testosterone has a bunch of other necessary functions in every human's body, regardless if male or female.
Such high doses of estradiol can have certain adverse effects too, like a higher chance for development of breast cancer or a higher thrombosis risk. But those can be compensated with proper progesterone treatment. Bio-Identical progesterone, that is. Also, bio-identical progesterone has a big bunch of protective functions in the brain and it helps shaping the breasts, making them more round instead of tubular or pointy.

You seem to know what you are talking about, so I have question for you:
How about face hair. I mean, while taking estrogen. It stops to grow? Or at least slows down?
I know this is kinda unconnected, but this is important to me, so I'd be very happy if you answered that.

Hi and sorry for the late answer.
So, facial hair usually doesn't stop. Once the roots are active, they have to be killed off with laser or electrolysis. I have no way of telling, if HRT slowed the growth down for me, because I started lasering it away long before HRT.
Arm hair does slow down a lot and if the HRT works well, the growth of the thick arm hairs even stops almost completely, while only the light fuzz keeps growing.

Can't speak for everyone but it definitely helped stop it for me. Accidental "happiness" (lol I had trouble thinking of a replacement word) has pretty much gone away. Is it the same with everyone? Probably not but my understanding is that it does lessen in frequency.
And poor Rain...but she looks so adorable blushing like that too.

Good for them.
As for "morning wood", it's certainly not a conscious response; it just happens as part of the normal cycling of hormones and neurotransmitters during sleep. There are times when knowing the science helps alleviate anxiety - or not.

I will never understand this, I'm afraid. My genitals have never been a part of my dysphoria, for they are as girly as the rest of me.
I still cracked up at the last panel though. XD

Well, if Emily didn't know how Dysphoric Rain is, she is about to find out (I'd like to think Emily didn't made any assumptions about Rain having Dysphoria or how severe it might be).
As for morning wood, as far as I have heard, it is something that happens many times during sleep cycles (sorry to anyone who is dysphoric and cringed heavily from that) and having it when you wake up is just a continuation of that cycle, you're just aware of it, at that point. Also, from what I have heard, women get a similar thing, though of course, it's not as noticeable.
Also, with Rain starting HRT in the not too distant future, her morning wood days are numbered Mwahahahahahaha.

I've heard that it gets like that to prevent bed-wetting incidents. It's harder to pee when it's like that. That, or it's not the reason, but a side effect.

flex35 In reply to silvermistshadow [2016-04-27 09:03:35 +0000 UTC]
I have my doubts about that, since from experience, I am still able to urinate while it is in that state (very annoying to aim though). Plus I am not sure if there has been an agreed upon reason for it yet.

silvermistshadow In reply to flex35 [2016-04-28 07:11:54 +0000 UTC]
Well, I only said it's harder to urinate. At least for me it is when it's like that, in addition to aiming issues.

I think Emily is going to do a wonderful job of helping Rain get through that dysphoria...
"I'm a girl who doesnt care if her girlfriend has a cock, because I love you! ALL of you, no matter what!" "Dont focus on that, just focus on me, and how much we love each other and will do anything we need to to make US work!"

flex35 In reply to DraygaQueen [2016-04-27 08:59:49 +0000 UTC]
Oh right, I can see Emily saying something like that ... probably not in those exact words, but something similar. Plus, I figure, I would have similar feelings if I would to date a woman, who just happens to also be a trans woman and be just as attracted to her, if she wanted to keep her original genitals or to change them.

That situation is plenty awkward without dysphoria. It can only be worse with it. I certainly won't claim to understand what it's like for Rain, but she has my sympathy. That cannot be fun.

Is it wierd that I almost never had issues like that, until I was on HRT? And even then, it was relatively rare...
Though I will admit, female arousal is much more fun, if frustrating (for now) And its fascinating to be able to experience both sides, and beyond frustrating when both strike at the same time!!!
