Description (Call it a hunch, but I think you're going to need to hit "Download" to get the full size view.)

***

ZUH! Behold, the most complex and detailed piece I've probably drawn to date. In all fairness, it IS a pretty cliche scene. I mean, it's hardly original; we've all seen the "barbecue/pool party character montage" at least once before. But I like this sort of piece, the kind you can look at for a long time and still notice new things. Here's hoping you all feel the same way.

Anyway, featured above are 23 characters (assuming you count Puddle and Spookums as full-fledged "characters") from 14 different stories. And EVERYTHING above, is based on something from my gallery. Every character has been seen (some more than others), and even some of the little things make subtle reference to older pieces (can you catch them ALL!?). And all this while keeping each character true to themselves (even if they're paradoxically interacting with someone from another story).

While I was thinking of explaining everything I drew here, I've changed my mind, and I think I'd much rather have fun letting you guys interpret what you see for yourselves. I will however answer any questions if you don't know what's going on. (There may be a handful of really discreet references that are hard to catch after all.)

***

Finally, I'd just like to take a moment to say thanks. I did this for you guys. From my first watcher to my last (563, as of this writing); without you all, much of what is referenced here would never have happened. These stories and characters would still be stuck in my head. And you have to understand, writing is my life blood. So by showing interest, by supporting me, by letting me know when I've done well and when I could do better, by being my friends: you have given me more than I feel I could've ever asked for. Every watch, every favorite, every comment means the world to me.

Thank you.

***

There's no easy way to name all the characters in any kind of logical order when their scattered around like this, but in the very least, I CAN name them all for you...

Didn't notice this comment until just now.

Anyway, that's a good question. For many of them, it's undecided. When I write, my ideas tend to come to me as a novel, a comic, or as a game. But I've altered mediums for some and have never figured it out for others. Although probably just about anything would work as a comic, it takes to get anything done in that medium, so it probably won't account for most of them.

The only DEFINITE comics are Rain and A Winner is You (featuring Aubrey, the redhead in the top-left with the 3DS). Although Legend of the Legendary Thing (featuring Ichabod, the spiky blue-haired guy and Ash, the guy hiding behind the bush) has been strongly considered as a comic. And then I guess you could classify Aidyn and Madison (the kids with the water guns) as comic material, but it's just gag stuff with no story. Any of the others could or could not become comics someday. It's really up in the air.

Most of my ideas tend to come to me in terms of moving pictures, occasionally games. They don't usually come accross AS novels, I just try my best to write em' that way. As I've stated...a few times before? My biggest creative outlet is through my Roleplays. The interaction drives them, keeps me entertained, and makes sure that I don't know for certain just how things'll turn out.

You wanna talk story/game ideas? I've had an MLP-themed one going around my head for awhile.

Speaking of MLP, it seems as if many fans of this comic are bronies. Can anyone else validate this argument?

To be fair, many fans of EVERYTHING tend to be bronies nowadays. MLP is popular, but its not as if we exist without any other interests whatsoever.

As far as I can tell, there is little significance between Rain and MLP, save maybe the lessons on accepting people for their differences.

Technically, Contest of Heroes began as a roleplay. I've played in several roleplays, but never actually ran one. The one time I almost did, I decided to go with a Final Fantasy theme (because ain't nobody know FF like me). But time passed and despite my planning with all the NPCs and villains I'd come up with, it never came to be. About a year or so later, I finally created the four main characters (to fill the void where other players would've come up with something) and it just became a story that follows the plot I basically had in mind.

There was something similar with a Disgaea RP idea I once had. But that went even more nowhere. There's no actual story follow-up, unfortunately. I only recently remembered this even existed when I spoke to one of the potential players again a few months back who basically told me how much he regretted never getting to use his character. After hearing it, I kinda regretted it too.

Anyway, I'm always happy to bounce ideas around with others. I admit that My Little Pony isn't really my thing, but that's okay. I can still hear you out regardless. ^_^

I've run....lemme think....Breaking Tides(magic high-school themed thing)...Nightengale(psudo-sequel to Breaking Tides)....Worlds' Crossroads(Multi-Genre OC/Fanfictiony characters crossover THING)....The Way to Dawn(KH themed RP), The TG War - Gaia Edition(An RP version of DevientART's TG War)....

Yeah, I've done this alot. Oh! And there was Godmodding: The RP(The basic idea was that it was a blank world, with a staff that let the weilder control reality. The idea was to see if they'd create a paradise, or wind up destroying eachother.)

And of course, theres the as-of-yet-unnamed RP about the Witches. Which should get kicked off shortly after this week ends. (Finals are this week. After then I'll have all the free time I need~

As for MLP, should I speak my mind here? Or in a Note? I'm for eiather way.

"Party Hard"

When it's time to party we will party hard

You,
You work all night (all night)
And when you work you don't feel all right
And when,
When things stop feeling all right (all right)
And everything is all right

'Cos we will never listen to your rules (no)
We will never do as others do (no)
Know what we want and we get it from you
Do what we like and we like what we do

So let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
Now it's time to party and we'll party hard (party hard)
Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
When it's time to party we will always party hard
Party hard (party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard...)

All right
You,
You fight that fight
And when you're fightin' you feel all right
But when,
When things stop feeling all right (all right)
And everything is all right

'Cos we will never listen to your rules (no)
We will never do as others do (no)
Know what we want and we get it from you
We do what we like and we like what we do

So let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
Now it's time to party and we'll party hard (party hard)
Let's get a party going (let's get a party going)
When it's time to party we will always party hard
Party hard (party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard party hard, party hard, party hard...)

Looks great, Rain looks very cute in her dress it is so in her character to be nervous well wearing it but it looks great. I also love how Maria is there to comfort her. Who are the two girls on the swing? And happy birthday i hope it is a good one.

The two girls on the swing are Lavie (the redhead) and the Amanda (the goth girl). They're the leads from Lavender Town . I recommend checking it out if you're not familiar with it. ^_^

latwPIAT [2011-05-29 17:36:00 +0000 UTC]

If I may, I suggest you (next time) make sure to include shadows and other forms of environmental interactions by the characters. Right now, a lot of them look like paper-cutouts on a background, especially the girl in the pink tubetop and the girl talking to the chef. There is, essentially, no sense of /place/ for most of the characters or objects, which negatively affects the impact of the drawing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JocelynSamara In reply to latwPIAT [2011-05-30 14:59:37 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I agree. Shadows would make this look a lot better... assuming I did them right. It's definitely something I need to work with a bit more in the future.

Thank you for your honest observation. I'll do what I can to work on that.
