Description
When you could trust truck drivers to be highly trained professionals. But now...
Sure there are still some good ones left but letting these idiots on the roads with families is just a damn shame.
Who, in their right mind, except the tailgater and that van, would ever drive in this weather without their lights on. And I mean tail lights too. These people are brain dead.
I read something a while ago. It read "When you're dead, you don't know you're dead. Its only hard on the people around you. Its the same when you're stupid". Its sooo true!
Look how much you can trust this trucker. The guy recording is from Winnipeg and it happened in Ontario.
The guy released the video in hopes that the other driver might be caught. They did get him but I never heard what came out of it. This truck sustained $30K worth of damages. The video got 2.5 million viewsΒ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ce9lF_β¦
By the way, this photo isn't to show off my photography skills obviously. It was a grab and snap kind of photo
Oh and for the record, here's a shot of our safe distance at 38mm zoom so close to the human eye

Having read through the comments, is it true you guys have to have your lights on all the time? It scares me that the truck drivers/ drivers in general don't take the precautions necessary in the weather conditions.

So sad
I guess its like anything. There are proud skilled workers in any field and there are also those who give them a bad name.

Here is an obligation to have the lights on on the car 24/7.
No matter the weather, time of day, just all the time.

Not at all disagreeing with your attacking observations, but WTF happened to full time wiring to lights on trucks and cars? This is an issue on the truck I am driving. I have become so used to full time lights on vehicles that I am only now, after a few weeks of accidentally forgetting, getting back into my old habit of clicking them on when I get in when I buckle up. Though I have yet to forget when driving in a blizzard!

I don't know Tom, I know what you mean. Only half the vehicles seem to have headlights even on these days. Its a reall issue.
I always jumped in, buckle up, start the engine and pull the lights, then drive off. I've gotten out of the habit too of doing it manually but yeah, any dohole must think about it in this kind of weather. This city is full of cars after dark with no lights on. It drives me crazy

Ack! I know how ya feel there. It was part n parcel when I was learning to drive. And though I can see it being easy to forget if one learns to drive on a car where it is not part of the "checklist". But I really think run ons should either be a ubiquitous law or not at all. For exactly the reason cited.Β And just so ya know, I too have noticed a reduction in conduct and competency in the truckers, there was a time where it was an acute source of proffessional pride, all who drove big gear for a living bordered on arrogant about their skill and their COURTESY! A characteristic I found comforting considering that..... "THAT AINT KNOW FEATHERDUSTER THEY ARE DRIVIN THERE"!lol
A bit of old school humor there eh!

Very dangerous rigs man. Makes me very nervous these days. They're nuts in the Rockies. And they all want to pass you but you either have to stay ahead, which is dangerous cause you could hit an animal, or let one pass. Problem is they travel dozens at a time and they will all stick together. You either get sandwiched between them or you need to get back in the lead. Its terrible really and they are, as you mentioned, very rude these days.

Not sure if you heard out there, but a trailer popped free of the 5th wheel here a week er 2 ago. Van coming the other way...
Nothing to do with lights obviously, but relates directly to how dangerous these things can be. And the reduced pride in some of the new generation of drivers. I can tell even by knowing you from this forum that that is a characteristic you possess, taking pride in the fact that you take pride in the things you do. It is a quality that seems to fading.....Ithink it takes more than just taking pride in the thing, but let it be known that taking pride in that fact is a GOOD thing, not something to shrugged off, it does NOT make one arrogant or condesending towards other people. Far too often it isconsidereing a flaw in the person, I consider it an admirable quality.

Oh wow that's terrible man I really hope it wasn't because of something overlooked by the driver or someone else.
I know exactly what you mean about the pride thing. Its deff more of an east coast thing although there are exceptions obviously. I know you have the same quality so you know and can recognize the same I hate when someone looks at me like I'm an idiot cause I know right off that they must be
I hate when someone has all the answers to all my problems as soon as they meet me and I have been working on them for years. Obviously its not that easy to remedy.

Have not heard about any charges or anything.... so I am guessing it will be an accident. Blame aside, I feel deeply for both sides.
I found Albertans were strong on the pride in being good thing but GEEZ they could be DICK about it. But unlike in my teens n 20's I think I would prefer the exceptional and arrogant over the happy go lucky dolt. In many cases. Some ABers were too much to cope with.
I like that Corb Lund guy, he seems proud of his "go big er go home" style, but he does not exude contempt either.
Here is my new fav of his....
