The idea was, the heroine has been beaten, but is undefeated, with the bad guy standing over her, in a warehouse setting. The villain is in silhouette, so that necessitates a strong light source, which led me to doing the warehouse office, with light shining out the little window. I'm nowhere near good enough to do detailed lighting, that's a skill I just don't have, but I think this worked out pretty well, in any case. My original plan was to do the lettering by hand, on the original art, but my limited skills in hand lettering led to me only doing the #1.Related content

At the con, this weekend, someone bought the original art for this one. Always nice when someone else takes an interest in a piece that is a personal favorite, too.

It was done as a commission for the writer, for NaNoWriMo. He ran into some story problems that prevented him from finishing the book. I was going to do it, this year, myself. Unfortunately, the part of my brain that writes is very capricious. But, I do have the stories worked out for two books, the next time I kick into writing mania.

I was amazed at how it came out, really. I don't usually do scenes with strong lighting precisely because it's so easy to go horribly wrong.
