Description Just, hypothetically speaking... if I were a professional novelist, instead of a cartoonist, and I had the opportunity to do a Doctor Who book, I would really like to fool around with the "other" Ninth Doctors who popped up here and there while the show was in limbo. And if I did, this could be the front cover. And the back cover would read something like...

"I'll explain later, Alison..."

Sometimes seconds trip over themselves. Sometimes time doubles back. Like a crowded beach, tracks in the sand become confused and sometimes you can't tell which footprints were yours and which were made by someone else. And then you notice you're alone...
It generally falls to Time Lords to iron out the wrinkles when causality becomes indecisive. But The Doctor's on his own now, the last of his kind, and what's worse, he seems to be the focus of the problem. How can he decide what's selfish and what isn't when there are two alternatives staring him in the face, and the worlds they represent are rich and tempting and... crowded?
There are three Doctors in a room, and one of them is alone. One of them is terrifically bored with it all, and the other one doesn't like the smell of oblivion.
Two of them are going to die. And the third one thinks he might want to.
Why can't anything ever be simple where time is concerned? It was hard enough going up and down it, to say nothing of side-to-side...

For those of you who don't know what the Hell I'm on about, here's a little history. In 1989 the original series of Doctor Who ended (after a remarkable 26 year run), and remained ended for quite some time. In 1996, however, there was a brief attempt to revive the series with Paul McGann as the eighth actor to officially portray the title character, though unfortunately it didn't take flight. But the world moved on, and in 1999 a British charity aired a telethon which included a comical take on Doctor Who starring Rowan Atkinson as, apparently, the Ninth Doctor. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but for a starved fandom it was a breath of fresh air. Yet later still, in 2000, the BBC's online departments threw together something which was meant to be taken seriously - an animated "webcast" of the Doctor's continuing adventures, this time with Richard E. Grant lending his voice and likeness to the character. Though in cartoon form, this was in fact intended to be the canonical Ninth Doctor... until Christopher Eccleston was announced as the star of the long-awaited live action revival! It seems that the BBC's left hand didn't know what its right was doing, and so the would-be cartoon Doctor was quietly shunted into the background as the new show went into production. The Doctor's now well into his tenth persona, but the curious circumstance of having had three Ninth Doctors has always intrigued me. So... I made this.
The end.

P.S. - please feel free to fullview .

Oh hey Amelius, I didn't know you were on DeviantArt. Or that you were a Whovian, for that matter. How's the parasite?

Yup, but I'm mostly a fan of the older stuff. No offense intended at the new episodes, but I feel more and more they're trying to make it appeal to chicks rather than geeks. (plus...I just despise both Rose and Donna! Martha was alright with me though.) Of course it also may be that I just have a tendency to favor classic anything, no matter how cheesy the special effects are.
As for the parasite, ah it's just getting worse it seems, been hurting for over five years now but just recently it has become actually visible. It's really creepy because it moves the tendons aside when I move my hand certain ways (like bending my hand forward) The way it looks I half expect a very small alien to burst out of it. I intend to get it inspected again once I can afford it though! One of the doctors I saw about this before merely suggested I could be imagining the pain, I sooo wish I could show him this now!

I absolutely adore your Doctor Who art. Really, it's anything you do, but considering that's what makes it to DA most of the time? Yeah, I likes it.

I'd love to read this story >_> Should you ever have time to plunk it out, don't hesitate. I'm sure it'll become a fan favorite, I mean, you're such a glorious writer, that's an obvious~

But, uh, ART WISE? Love the line quality, as always. You've got such a knack for that! The stylized characters, the simple coloring--I could look at it all day. You rock <3

I'd say the story itself might be interesting

That's....well, to be blunt, fekkin' brilliant.

I agree, there is really a very nice gap to do something like this- (although Rowan was nine for all of about a minute- the sketch comedy had him constantly regenerating)- and the idea of them all crossing in time in space is intriguing.

But the details really make this piece. I particularly like the identical poses that manages to be a subtle link between them, and the muted colors in a very vortex-sque setting.

(Seriously, why haven't you been approached by the BBC yet? This is loads better than half the art they release in their annual.)

Anyways, yeah, favved.

It's really cool! I like Christopher Eccleston the best though. You never forget your first doctor.
