SO. This is my piece for the color portion of this week.I'm not sure what Sean is going to say about this one. Sean took us through his color schemes, and while I think it works for him, my coloring is really different. He likes to use saturation to focus on characters, but I do other things!
My thought process here is that since the disguised Rodian Jedi "Pointy", as he's affectionately been nicknamed, is on the seedy underworld moon Nar Shaadda. It's filled with lot's of bright neon-type lights, and destaturating the background simply wasn't working. So I let the lights tell the story. The building lights, highlights, hologram, and stroke around Pointy help the eye to keep moving around the piece. I also refrained from the use of texture and noise on Pointy to help him pop out a bit more. Finally, I did my best to keep the composition circular so that the eye wouldn't get too stuck. And YES, that's a wanted poster for fellow Jedi-on-the-run, Peil! While I still think this panel needs a little work, I have to throw in the towel for now and move on to background 3.

I like this piece a lot. It really shows the essence of the Coruscant underground, and everything you said about it in the description was achieved perfectly.

haha, I know! I was just crazy busy getting ready for it. But I will give you plenty of notice for the next one.
It went GREAT! We had a nice turnout. It was 3 sets-half an hour each. But everyone seemed to like it and were talking about it days after the fact.

Well, I think it's awesome. Cheeks color scheme is not for everybody, I like it and even tried to apply to mine, but it just didn't fit at all.
I like this scene, I love cities with lots of neon lights.

Yeah man, I tried his scheme but it just didn't work for me either. I think once you find your groove with coloring, it's hard to take someone else's as your own. But it was a neat exercise at least!
