Hello awesomeness! I love your take on Saki, she's so badass. I can't wait for the day when you become a Star Wars artist and I can brag to all my friends that I have original art done by Joe Hogan. :3

I will totally be commissioning you sometime again. Most likely when November or December comes around though.

So so so glad you like both!! I really had a lot of fun "translating" her over to my style! And really Kaela, thanks so much for the kind words. Coming from a colleague, they mean a lot.

Oh, that'd be fantastic! No pressure, but I'd definitely be down for more commissions from you! They were really fun so far!!

Hey, speaking of commissions, would you mind if I assigned you a commission to do that muscle-bound Hutt jedi I told you about? I remember his name now, it's Beldorion.

I thought it might be an interesting peice for you to do if you don't mind!

LOL I'd love to, he looks hilarious! Why would I be opposed to it, you're the customer!

Here's a link to the journal with my commission rates. It sounds like you want a sketch card of him (I'm doing them for pretty cheap!!), but feel free to choose whichever you can afford.

If you didn't have a commission in mind, and meant an unpaid request, I'm unfortunately not taking any unpaid work at this time. The commissions are to help pay the bills, and I have to save my time for them, you know?

Either way, I appreciate the interest, and let me know!

Ooohh.... I didn't know these commissions were real commissions like the ones of the days of the Medici's and the Rennaisance lol.

Great way to pay some bills on the side though, I like it.

Well, in that case, just keep the idea in a little notebook somewhere, and as soon as you get back to spare time stuff for free that could be something that's first on you're list, I don't have a credit card to transfer any sort pay here anyway unfortunatly!

You're link didn't patch through though, mind posting it again so I can see you're prices just in case?

Thanks for looking at the idea anyway!

JoeHoganArt In reply to MS-06F-Zaku-II [2010-09-08 13:54:38 +0000 UTC]

haha Yeah, I'm trying to get as much paid work as possible. I just don't have the time for requests, while I'm not opposed to doing them. I'm actually changing my full-time job to part-time, so that I can undertake this other big comic project that's been presented to me, and as a result, my income is going to drop substantially. So yeah, the paid work is the only work I can make time for, for now!

No worries for the misunderstanding. Like I said, I'm flattered that you're interested enough to make a request in the first place!

Here's the link in case, but if it doesn't work again, just go to my profile page, and it's the most recent journal entry there.

Thanks again!

Risky business to go for working more for art than the other job, but you're work is good enough to show that you know what you are doing!

I'm sorry, but the prices are just a bit too much for me, not to say that they are unreasonable, art takes time to create on a canvas to any decent degree and above, and such efforts would be ludicrous to ask of them for less.

Just remember to keep the idea in mind for a spare time project, that's all I humbly ask!

Thanks! Definitely a risk, but one worth taking I believe!

Yeah, definitely understandable. If you can believe it, that is actually considered CHEAP for a lot of artists! Some medium sized-name artists can get away with asking for 100 bucks just for a pencil drawing! Insane!

Will do!

MS-06F-Zaku-II In reply to JoeHoganArt [2010-09-08 20:08:23 +0000 UTC]

LoL, now THAT is where I would really draw the line as to what is "reasonable" for a drawing!

Well thanks for taking my idea suggestion into account!

Aside from that, I saw that there were going to be some scenes from various Star Wars films that you were commisioned to do, but I didn't see specifics, did they specify at all or are you just winging it?

JoeHoganArt In reply to MS-06F-Zaku-II [2010-09-08 21:22:40 +0000 UTC]

Agreed! But if I can get away with it someday...hahaha

No problem!

No, most of the commissions (with the exception of the tattoo, since that's a VERY permanent part of someone's skin!) were just a short description of the scene they wanted, and then I got to take all the artistic freedom I wanted with it. They really are a lot of fun that way!

MS-06F-Zaku-II In reply to JoeHoganArt [2010-09-08 21:34:53 +0000 UTC]

So they really let you kind of do what you want with a scene huh?

That sounds like a great present of freedom for you!

Speaking of Star Wars, I wanted to get more of those Star Wars Legos, but most of the really good ones are so expensive...

Do you have any Star Wars Legos? I have some on display on a shelf above my computer, but the rest I had to break down to save space for other things, It's sad since I don't have the instructions to some of them to build them back up again.

JoeHoganArt In reply to MS-06F-Zaku-II [2010-09-08 21:57:04 +0000 UTC]

Oh totally, dude. These really are a treat for me to work on. I get to approach it from whatever angle I want. Of course, if anyone had any specific instructions, I'd be happy to follow them. But they usually don't. I guess they want the commission to be as purely-me as possible? If that makes sense? I don't know!

Star Wars legos are awesome! I've been collecting a bunch of them since they first started making them. I usually get one every other wave of sets that comes out, just because, like you, I have no room for them. Right now the pride of my collection is this bad boy:

My girlfriend got it for me this past Christmas when we went to the Lego store in Downtown Disney (Disney World marketplace)! It's massive and AWESOME. Had so much fun building it. Every little room is so cool!

MS-06F-Zaku-II In reply to JoeHoganArt [2010-09-08 22:12:23 +0000 UTC]

Ahh yes the Death Star! I like every little room in there being a scene too!

I've actually been to the Legoland store in Disneyland, one time I think they had the original Darth Vader Tie Fighter and X-Wing.

My favorite lego set of the Star Wars series had to be the Podracers one, I modified each one so that they didn't need those tan beams to hold the engines together with the energy bars.

There was even a "Watto's Junkyard" one where there were the engines and cockpit of Mawhonic's podracer and I modified those to make them into a complete podracer, so by then I had Anakin's, Sebulba's, Gasgano's, Aldar Beedo's, and Mawhonic's podracers all together so that I could have a real race scene going, lol.

I need to find some sets on E-Bay that I can build for cheap.
