Description
Anothe Classically-inspired illustration, this from the story of Aphrodite and Adonis (or one version, at least...there are many!). It is siad that the fatally wounded Adonis died in Aphrodite's arms at the falls of Aqfa in Lebanon. The goddess' trears, mingling with his blood, fell to earth and became flowers. To this day, in springtime, the scarlet anemones bloom each year around the falls in eternal remembrance.
