Description
Hi everyone,
Happy to share some High Fantasy to kick off the week. this is a painting I have done for Nord Games ''Treacherous Traps'' D&D supplement around half a year ago. It was a challenging set of assignments in terms of complexity, but I learned alot on how to work faster and more efficiently.
The painting depicts the archetypical Barbarian and Cleric, trying to solve the Riddle of the Sphinx. Their surrounding represent the stakes should they fail to guess correctly.
Lemme know what you think! This one is a bit different.
All the best,
JCH

There is only one price that would ever make me wanna attempt a Sphinxes riddle.
I am not asking for immortality as a Human, just for eternal peak youth until my lifetime runs out.
Do not need some kind of stupid overpowered artefact, or dumb OP magic spells and other fancy shitΒ like that.
Mortals have only one true enemy. Aging.
Imagine living in a badass fantasy world as a mortal race and able to earn and master all kinds of amazing stuff.
And then your physical and mental capabilitys degrade just for being alive.
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Can there be ever a bigger turnoff to get ANYTHING done? Β
Elves too! They might just live longer but that only delays the inevitable right?
Apparently the D&D Sphinxes from Faeryn wield godlike powers and can bend reality to their will completely.
Well then... time to participate in the ultimate game. Finally a gamble worth for me to join into.
But if it is only about something as stupid as passage, then I must refuse to go even near that winged chimera.
Oh? There is an important sword behind it, the only able to slay a worldending evil that might awaken at anytime and kill us all? Β
What? There is the recipe for a cure behind it in a chamber that can end a currently rampaging, horrible plague?
Whooot? A Princess is held hostage there and unimaginable fame awaits me if I safe her?
Well good for someone then, but I will now kindla fu°° off! Β
I mean I am dead anway if I don't get the riddle right.
The stakes are just too high for too little.
My depression will not go away by peoples thanks or some coochie.
May the price be worth participating I say.

GREAT answer! I also concur. Age sure has its downsides.

It was a joy, thank you!
My mental debaucheries may be inspired by this video here: Dungeons and Dragons Lore: Sphinx Secrets
Currently the D&D Faeryn universe is getting more popular and more attention again.
Because of the Baldurs Gate 3 release trailer and even the newly released footage.
I played Baldurs Gate 2 when I was a teenager and memorys never die.
For many people this videogame's universe was the beginning and their introduction to fantasy. Β
And in a true fantasy universe, everything should be possible. Every dream, every ambition.
The true meaning of it. People can label it "greed" and "sin" and whatever.
But true want is nothing to be ashamed of and nothing is more boring as to bow down to reality and let it dictate one's feelings and ambitions I think.
And I just noticed that I didn't even say: Thanks for the amazing artwork, until yet.
I need my daily dose of fantasy after all. Β Β
