Aaaaand in case anyone's interested, here's her backstory...

*deep breath in*
Born to unicorn parents, Cerise grew up an only child in the eastern plains of the Unicorn Range. Her hometown, located near Cloudsdale, was home to mostly ground-dwelling pegasus ponies and was a hub of activity despite having a small residential population. Her classmates, sometimes forgetting she was bound by gravity, often took to the skies to play. Weary of being left behind by her many pegasus friends, the young unicorn turned to art as an escape. On paper and canvas, she had the freedom to imagine and create things that weren't possible in real life. Though it helped her cope, painting did not truly satisfy the deep-rooted desire in her heart. She continued to focus on developing her magical abilities, and began to experiment with teleportation and levitation at an early age. The adult ponies reprimanded her, saying the spells were dangerous and far too advanced for a young filly. Despite their concerns, she continued anyway, determined to surpass her unicorn peers in magical ability. Her cutie mark, representing her creative thinking and free spirit, was earned at an average age.

After mastering levitation as a teenager, she began reading up on different wing summoning spells, still longing for the freedom to soar through the skies. With little success, she temporarily put her research aside to focus on other aspects of her life. As soon as she was old enough, she moved out of her parents' house and settled in Ponyville. She maintains a job at a pet store, and still paints as a hobby.

Cerise's special talent was discovered during early adulthood, long after she gained her cutie mark. Motivated by the continued skepticism of other ponies and the cruel irony of the wing on her flank, she continued her research on spells that would allow her to fly. After finding most of them too exhausting and permanent for quick, spur-of-the-moment use, she began work on a spell of her own: an advanced form of a powerful levitation spell, with raw magical energy shaped into feathered pegasus wings that she could control and use to provide lift and speed. After years of hard work and a lot of trial and error, she managed to perfect the spell and can now use it at will. However, this requires intense concentration and often results in headaches. But as she likes to say, “Still worth it!”
