I've been buying IDW Ninja Turtles comics and they're pretty good. Although the designs of the turtles in the more recent issues/volumes in the line look more like Franklin the Turtle like in the cartoons. It wouldn't have mind the Turtles from the 80's cartoon as long they didn't look all kind friendly and cutesy. But the artist in the earlier issues Β follow Eastman's design more.

The original art for the Ninja turtles has always been sort of "cartoony". Although more gritty of course. I will always remain a fan of the original series, and movies. As they were what got me into drawing all together. Kind of ashamed to admit that I've read the original comic maybe once in my life. So I can't really speculate on the newer ones.
