Description
These are concept drawings I did as part of the design stage for my Red Clan Orc paper minis to help me figure out their look. The two on the right were the first drawings I did in preparation for the heavily armed Red Clan Orc Skirmishers . The one of the left is how I envisioned the more lightly armed and stealthier Red Clan Orc Hunters .

I decided pretty early on to depart from the more typical "big, dumb and bloodthirsty" characterization of medieval-fantasy orcs, instead choosing to imagine a fierce but intelligent race of beings who fight to protect their territory and culture rather than to sow chaos.
