Tonight's quick experiment with DAZ Studio and Iray explores the effect that the camera's depth of field has on making a render feel more like a photograph. I used a customized character from a previous experiment [ joepingleton.deviantart.com/ar… ]. I just set the focal point to her right eye and set the F/Stop to half of what I would normally think about using. No post workRelated content

Yeah, those subtle focus settings can make such a difference, and are fun to play around with.
I wish there was a way to use "shutter speed" to make blur effects, like movement and such. But due to the static models that won't work!

I had been using the DOF options a lot, but have just recently come to the conclusion that I need to make the effect more pronounced to get the moods I have been missing.
Iray does need a motion blur option. Maybe someday it will get integrated.

I saw that product, but the effect didn't seem right. Most 3d programs have motion blur built in. I love the way Carrara handles motion blur and it even works with the Lux renderer. I'm not sure if Octane or Reality's Lux render engine supports motion blur by default. I've been cheating it by frame blending animated renders in After Effects.
