Description
I picked up the "Sun Hall " 3D model on sale at the DAZ Store and thought it would make a great location for some more "Wheel of Time" fan art. This scene depicts the climax of "The Dragon Reborn" novel with Rand claiming "Callandor" (the crystal sword) during his fight with the Forsaken Ishamael in the Heart of the Stone. I added some"Defenders of the Stone" and "Aiel" to make things a little more interesting.
Too many items used to list them all. If you have any questions on a specific item I used, just ask

Thank you, When I saw the preview pictures for this environment I happened to be listening to this part of the books and thought it would be fun to try some more WOT fan art. I am cautiously optimistic about the WOT series. The people involved seem like fans and I heard Jeff Bezos is a fan, so there is hope they do it right

Well, I have never read teh Wheel of Time saga, too long for my taste, I have given so much time already to Games of Thrones and The Mazalan Book of th Fallen. However this is a great scene !

It might be better to wait until they release the TV show to see if it interests you enough to read the books. I am relistening to them on audiobooks from my library online during this quarantine and really prefer them because of the great narrators they use.
I have been thinking of starting The Mazalan Book of the Fallen and have been put off by how many books there. I started to read Wheel of Time books back in high school and it took 25 years for it to be finished, so I shouldn't be afraid of starting Mazalan. I read all the GOT books when the show started, but have become convinced that he wrote himself into a mess and is no longer motivated to finish it. I lost all interest after the way the ended the show.

At least the Mazalan serie is completed. I do not think GOT will ever be. But I did not know a serie was planned for The Wheel of Time.

I agree about GOT, and if it ends like the show I am not sure if I care anymore. I just started listening to the first Mazalan audiobook. I am cautiously optimistic about the WOT series. The people involved seem like fans and I heard Jeff Bezos is a fan, so there is hope they do it right

At last I have never been deceived by an Amazon serie till now. So it is promising.

It's lovely, though I'm not sure how practical a crystal sword is.

II always pictured it as kind of rustic and carved from stone. When I saw the preview pictures for this environment I happened to be listening to this part of the books and thought it would be fun to try

I always picture the outside of 'the stone' as well, looking like a stone, or at least resembling one of those slightly out of place massive rocks glaciers are known to drop.
Doesn't make much sense, considering the lads climb up it at the end of one of the earlier books.

Wowzers, that is beautiful work, Joe! I've never had the chance to use the Sun Hall yet, but certainly you used it to great effect here.

Thank you, Once I started I just kept adding things to make it feel a little more like a classic fantasy image. I normally don't use more than 100 iterations for my images.

I render everything at double the final size and that allows me to get away with fewer iterations because a lot of the noise goes away when I make it half size at the end. .

The other thing I try is to turn down the sub-D mesh resolution on the figures to zero when I have a lot of figures and the texture compression thresholds to 72. This allows me to fit the scene in my GPU's memory and thus everything renders faster. I was also able to use "Instances" of the guards and warriors to keep the memory cost down and still have a bunch of figures in the scene. The only problem is that they have to use the same poses, so I just cheated them by rotating them differently
