Hmm! Amazon, Red-Tailed Black Cockatoo, Derbyan, Lori, Lorikeet, Galah, Amazon, African Grey, Crimson Rosella, Amazon, African Grey, Masked Ringneck, Green-Cheeked Conure and Military Macaw? I think I'll get maybe 9/14 in this quiz. Deduct points because I don't know Amazons well enough to ID 'em. Or the Lori. Or the little guy, who could also be a...nope, I dunno.
Beautiful work Joe!

Right! Oh well...a Night Parrot! I don't feel bad about not getting that...sadly they're pretty much extinct, but there's faint hope we can save 'em.
Yes, I am a small-time parrot nerd.

Do you own a parrot? I always wonder how they were as pets.
I learned so much about parrots anatomy and species types doing this experiment. That is always the real fun of doing these experiments with animals

I used to- I've had Budgies and Cockatiels as a kid, and then I inherited a Sun Conure from a friend who moved overseas. He tragically escaped after just a few years. I had Lovebirds for 10 years after that.
I was always very conflicted about it. All the above were hand-raised, so used to being indoors and around people, but still. They fly. I think they have an irrepressible instinct for freedom of the skies.
Imagine owning a really smart puppy that can fly, and that's what owning a parrot is like. Very high maintenance! You give it everything you've got, or don't bother- and unfortunately lots of people go into it not realising just how time-consuming and difficult it can be.

I always felt sorry for birds in cages, they looked like they should be free and flying
