After being abducted on the Black Dragon island, Sonya discovers the island is actually a secret fortress belonging to the Shape Shifting Sorcerer Shang Tsung. The islands purpose was to act as an anchor point of entry between dimensions for Shang to travel back and forth to his Master in outworld. However Kano does have dealings on the island, he has actually sold the entirety of Earthrealm out to Shao Kahn. During her abduction, the alliance of EarthRealm warriors are able to hold back the first wave of invaders and her partner Jax is able to secure Sonya's freedom.

Returning to Earth, she informs her Task Force Leaders of her findings and hopes to develop some sort of contingency plan if an invasion were to ever take place again. However, the higher ups fail to believe any of the warning signs. Of course Shao Kahn's Invasion amplifies and he begins the merging of Earth with Outworld, with all hell literally breaking loose around her, she must engage with her Earthrealm Allies and take part in the fight to save Earth once and for all in the Final Kombat.
