Reiko was once a General in Shao Kahn's Army. However centuries ago, he abandoned his faith in the Outworld pantheon of Gods and began worshipping the Fallen Elder God Shinnok. In his new Servitude, he was given instructions to continue his service in Shao Kahn's Army until the time was right.

Having no true Loyalty to his Emperor, Reiko began Masquerading in the shadows with a replica of Shao Kahn's Helmet.

During the outworld Invasion, it was Reiko who aided Quan Chi in gaining a footing within Kahn's Fortress and allowed the Sorcerer a meeting with the Emperor.

When Kahn's invasion of Earthrealm began, Reiko led an Extermination squad into Earth, but abandoned them when they began their assault, with out a leader, the squad had fallen, and Reiko hid away with the other followers and members of the BrotherHood of Shadows as they awaited the fall of the Deceived Emperor Shao Kahn.

With Outworld defeated, Reiko returns to the realm living in a human settlement hiding his identity until Shinnok's rise from the NetherRealm can take place.

Reiko's loyalty to the Gods will finally pay off, and his reward for his hard work, will be to be installed as Outworld's new Kahnum.
