This Sub-zero returns from the grave, thought to have been killed by Scorpion on Shang Tsung's island so long ago.
This Sub-Zero's sole purpose is to Assassinate Shang tsung, therefore he will have to defend Earthrealm by defeating Shao Kahn and his invading forces from Outworld.

It stands to reason, how is it that he exists now, when his younger brother has taken up the mantle of Sub-Zero and also a version of him who has become a wraith also exists in the Shadows? What horrors has Shao Kahn's invasion caused to disrupt time and space?
