Description
I figured I'd rock one of rapper Edan... I just recently starting listening to this dude, due to a recommendation from *pacman23 ... I had heard him on Lif's album Emergency Rations (track: Get wise '91) a little while ago, but didn't think he had his own shit out... It's pretty dope. He's got an old school lyrical style laced into really rough beats. (My cup o' tea.) Here's some fun facts from his bio:PIANO TEACHER SAYS EDAN NOT GOOD AT PIANO.
EDAN SAY FUCK YOU SHUTUP.
EDAN HEAR ROCK AND ROLL JIMI HENDRIX.

EDAN A LOT IN RAP.

About the render, it's a little more simplified than usual (especially the background), just as a change of pace.

As usual, the detail level is absolutely beautiful. And, I enjoy how the complexity of the face balances so well with the simple hair.

Awesome man! I like the simplicity!
I like the way you did his hair (both detail and gradation) and that zipper, WOW!
I stand in awe and simultaneously delete all my vector works out of shame.

Slackin... my artwork tends to go in spurts. Unfortunately my day job (designing web sites) doesn't really produce anything to post here.
But I see cool ass work like yours and it gets me inspired again! So thanks back to ya!

sweet vector, i like the two tone background deal, great color combo. anyway, is all the scruffy parts on his facial hair vector too? thats some crazy small detail.

I handled the beard a little differently, I took the photo reference in Photoshop, converted it to threshold, and cut the shape of the beard out and exported the paths to illustrator. I like to do that with a lot of pieces to add a little variation to it.

that sounds like a cool technique.. ive never gone from threshold straight to paths.. ill have to play around with that.

Yeah, there's a lot of cleaning up involved in terms of stray paths and things like that, but in certain cases, it works clutch.

at first I thought that the coat and color layers were what made this stand out, but I realize that though they are awesome, it's the stubble and shading you've got going on! That kics ass... and at first I have to admit, I thought it was either Bob or Jakob Dylan... but nonetheless, it's awesome, yet again!
