Description
I went to the Philadelphia Tattoo Convention this last weekend because I thought it would be a great training exercise for me. Also, I thought it would be really cool.I figured, I needed to become better at taking portraits. And I can only do that by practicing. I also figured that most of the people there, seeing as in they have body art and body mods, would not mind posing or having their picture taken. They would want to show off their art. Also, this is not my usual scene or crowd, so I figured it would force me to get out of my comfort zone to better help me learn to approach people.
I think it was somewhat of a success. I still was hesitant to approach people I thought were really interesting looking, despite the fact that most everyone there I met was very friendly. I wish I had not been, because there were some really fantastic opportunities I passed up.
But I think it was a good exercise. And I came away with some pretty cool photos.
This one here may be my favorite of the night. I really liked how it turned out so much so that I did not edit this in anyway other than a veeeery slight tweek with the contrast.
Anyway, I will be posting more from the night soon.
Hope you enjoy.
And again, any criticism is welcome and sought after. I am still learning, and have a ways to go. I would appreciate the chance to grow.

Wow. Great shot indeed! I will be attending one of these in St. Louis this year and I'm hoping for similar results. I should fit right in as that's my kind of crowd but kudos to you for stepping out of your comfort zone for the sake of your passion. Looks to me like it worked out because that's one hell of a shot!

Thanks so much!
I really had a great time. I just wish I had asked more people to stop and pose for me, to show off their work. But, like I said, still getting out of my zone.
I did have a blast there though, and I am looking forward to what I can do next year.
If you are interested in these kinds of shots, take a look back. I have some more that I will be posting soon.
