Description
So LoK has ended and Korrasami is CANONΒ...Or at least as canon as lgbt couple can get on Nickelodeon.
Did anyone else spend their morning running around flailing/screaming like a beheaded chicken?
Here's my little celebratory piece, a quick sketchy thing, (I quite like this style, I'd like to refine it more.)

cool piece, but i still feel like that came out of nowhere... bryke really should have worked that relationship better...

I feel like this was just the beginning for them... that they were just realizing themselves that there was something more between them <3
Personally I've been shipping them for a while so I've been picking up on "hints" for a while that I though we mostly just me reading too much into it But I guess this is as much as Bryke could be allowed to show on an international "kids" show.

yeah, i can see that they probably decided that in the third book, probablr, but in the end it still doesn't feel like the korra from season one... is ok to change, but sexual orientation is always the same... and thinking that that could change is a bit ignorant coming from them...Β

Yeah she certainly has changed a lot, most good in my opinion as I wasnt too into her ealier rashness and immaturity... but I do still kinda miss that part of her. I dunno, I think she came out pretty good in the end. As for sexuality, I think it's a pretty fluid thing and I personally read her as a bisexual character but I always though that was me being wishful

yeah, for this percentage of the fans it was expected, but for probably 90% it really came out of nowhere, and a lot of fans simply hated it, I didn't see the couple as a problem, but the way they were porrly developted really upset me, just came as one more point where legend of korra is inferior to the last airbender... it's sad because a lot of people say that they couldnt be more clear because it's a kids show, the ending was nothing but very clear, if they were to do that, for me they should do the ending more sutil, so that we could conclude they were starting to look at each othe in a diferent way, the ending escalated absurdly...Β

For many of us Korrasami shippers it didnt come out of no where, (Korra only writing to Asami in those 3 years away and her blushing when Asami complimented her hair are some of the biggest more recent examples). If anything I think this is kind of a lesson in seeing things less "straight" all the time and a good way to get people to think more open mindedly. I would agree that LoK does rush development often, but this case felt less so, for me anywayΒ
I feel like the creators were trying to find a good balance between "subtle relationship shift" to "undoubtably romantic" which can be a bit tricky because it's a kids show... Maybe they could have found a way, but the Korrasami shippers seem happy enough with it.
I personally prefer AtLA over LoK for many reasons, but some of the more adult things from Lok I greatly enjoy, like the villians being less black-and-white, and more grey-in-between characters. That I love. I guess Korrasami is kind of an example of that, things arent always as they seem, maybe more to the story kind of thing??

I don't know how is it like from a shiper's perspective, but the only thing that sugested somthing else to me were the blushing, which i thought was kind of a wink at korrasami shipers, but the letters to me was just a sign that korra now had a really good friend, which i was so happy for, cause korra isn't the type to have girl friends...
I don't think that the vilains in lok are superior to tla, mostly because they seemed to me actually the opposite of what you said, yes they do have a reason to be evil, but most of legend of korra vilains are just too coincidentaly against korra, Amon and Kuvira, before the desapointing end were my favorite because their goal didnt relate to the avatar directaly, but unalak was so ridiculously steriotyped and the red lotus seemed so silly not even mentioning why they wanted to get korra until after half of the book had passed...
the psycho nature and the royal family strugles of the fire nation vilains of tla were always flawless to me...

For a moment there they had Korra and Mako talking and it seemed they were going to play it safe and then... and then suddenly Asami wants to go on vacation and Korra go with her... and they are holding hand... fade to end credits. I was surprised and happy to see it. Even if it was only that much. The creators did something great.

Yeah, considering their limitations of being on Nickelodeon Bryke really did well <3 I'm so glad they were able to make this happen~!

So it wasn't just me! They really are a couple! Well, like you said. It's heavily implied.
