Yeah... it really does look flat, sorry - did you use an image and 3d-ify it some how?

I can already hear the mass effect galaxy map music... awesome.
But as cool as it is.... the galaxy seems a little flat to me, and I'm not sure why.

Thank you. These shots are really expensive y'know - I had to cut half of the Moon and build that gigantic mirror on the other side so I could get all the detail...

They look like they're about to collide. And colliding galaxies make a huge mess...

I think my brain just exploded from the sheer awesomeness that this picture is made of.

Stunning, as usual! I'm totally digging this because it's a nice break from the typical planets and nebulae that you see every passing day. Very detailed and realistic looking, nice job!

I'm reminded of something with an unexpected relevance to this - in Super Mario Galaxy 2 there's different worlds each hosting a multitude of levels, each world takes you further out from the familiar Solar System and deep in the game there's one where your'e well and truely beyond the galaxy and can see other sin the background...it's kinda cool actually, one day I'll have to try that myself Reminds me of a more "sharp" version of some of *ANTIFAN-REAL 's work

Well, Gary Tonge's approach was always more artistic then realistic. That's what I loooove about his pieces.

Same here...with everyone expecting digital art to look super-real all the time, we can forget that its not the "only" way to go about it, I prefer a stylised look closer to traditional art when it comes to looking at digital paintings too (I only pay attention to full-on "realism" in 3D and matte paintings where the goal is often that )

Love the angle of the spiral galaxy. This looks like a real NASA deep space photo! Bravo.
