Thank you - I actually didn't come up with the title - it's a real name of the nebula which Hubble telescope discovered some time ago and NASA scientists called it that way.

That would take a long article and we wouldn't get anywhere - I use WACOM pen and tablet and photoshop as my painting medium - for the basics look up 'space art tutorials'... ...to get where I am.. ..have patience - I've been painting Space Art for 12 years now...

If you do not mind the curiosity, what method do you use for the larger stars? Those are some very uniform diffraction rays.

Basically by creating a larger star - you may use lens-flare FX or just paint the star with soft round brush (use harder edges for center of the star), then just simply copy it, set the overlay for colour dodge or screen and adjust the dimensions (set the height to around 300% and width to about 5-10%) and it should work - then you just copy this layer and rotate it by 90 degrees and you got it.

Excellent, thank you.
Done some experimenting and it looks... so-so. I use GIMP 2, so guess the transformation math is a bit different. But it looks a whole lot better than my old methods and is surely a good base to work on.
Thanks for sharing. You are an asset to the community.

There is a (c) below each image - the button is for dummies.. ..I already made some nice money by suing those few idiots who tried to steal my art, so I'm not worried about the theft - it's a warning, not a plea.

Okey, wrong term - sent cease and desist letter and it worked every time (well, not in one case of Chinese ... but then again - what would you expect). Truth is - I don't care much if these pictures are used elsewhere - if someone uses them commercially without my consent and I find out, I take legal measures and you are right about the fact that I can't check on every print salesman on earth but this gallery is meant to attract commissioners, studios or developers to hire me and it has worked quite well so far.

I think your starfield might be shifted too much to the left? There's a bit of a blank spot running down the right side. Lovely work though!

if you look closer the starfield actually fits - just some of the bright ones are further from the edge

Don't apologize, it DOES look weird and my OCD tendencies drive me crazy when I see it so I actually might adjust it in the future
