Description
For fullview and wallpaper visit: [link]Info by Greg Martin:
Covered with layer of constantly renewing ice
ten kilometers deep, Europa has been called
the next best possibility for life in our solar
system. As such it isn't hard to imagine we will
one day send submersibles beneath the ice in
search of the upwelling heat and nutrient
sources needed for life as we know it to
flourish.
Fourth piece for ETP. The most fun doing it, the most time spent on it (so far). You see - there isn't much light beneath the ten kilometers of ice, so the light sources had to be artifical. Robotic submersibles were the first (and right) choice. It's not reality, it's a possible future but not complete science-fiction. And what is better than one robot? TWO! - They are called Ecco and Hello (which shines right into our eyes so we can see just it's flashlight. And yeah - it's more like a waterscape than spacescape
Oh, and the making of: [link]

Job well done mate! Lovely coloscheme and the touch of ice/water here really brings something sleak out of it.
Awesome!

Nice one, though not sure whether it does seem to cyanish for me - some of the blue tones do look excellent, say, top-mid right, but the left, it does feel like some white would be nice. Of course, just preference; this is well done. I do wonder though, I've always thought of Europa as being quite calm being rather untouched -- am I wrong? Are there any sources with reasonable conjectures as to all that ice breaking around the place in the picture? Cool robot names by the way, and the form of the scenery is great.

Actually - the ice crust is not anyhow attached to the molten core of Europa (if we consider the underground ocean theory is right - as does this image) and is heavily influenced by Jupiter. Just imagine what can gravitation of Jupiter do with 100km deep ocean. In fact - there are proofs that water beneath the ice often finds its way on the surface - those "scars" on the face of Europa are not just some "alien child's play in the sand" if you get what I mean?
