This painting is based on one of the final passages in the Children of Hurin epic by J.R.R. Tolkien. I originally started this painting as a monochromatic color study, but felt compelled to draw this small little scene because I thought the singular color palette fitted well with the more tragic tone of this Tolkien tale.
