I haven't written a short story in a while, so let's get this over with.

It's night, on September the 18th, 2017. Joey and Kit got in a short disagreement whether Joey should go to college or work. Joey says working has been his thing ever since he graduated from high school, but Kit believes he should go to college to get a better job. They both argue at one another, and then Joey walks out of the house (Kit's house is where Joey lives after he graduated, Kit being too kind to let him stay at her place).

Joey is walking in the woods trying to cool off. He walks so far that he reaches to the Downhill Park. He stands there for a while thinking about what he needs to do with his life. But as he was standing, he looks up in the night clear sky, looking at the stars. "It's a beautiful night sky," he thought. Feeling relaxed, as he should be. He keeps looking up and notices a bright star glows brighter and brighter. He think it's a helicopter lowering down. But it gets a lot brighter. "Wait, that's no star, or helicopter, IT'S A METEOR!," He runs, but it crashes down behind him, creating a large explosion and trips Joey over. The smoke clears revealing what appears to be someone laying down unconscious. "Oh shit, she needs help!," Joey runs over to try and help her, wakes her up, and then gets grabbed in the neck. "Fuck, WHAT IS GOING ON?!"

"Where.. am.. I?" She faintly said, still grabbing Joey in the neck. "Are you okay?!"

"AM I ON EARTH?!" she kept asking, Joey is struggling to breath, "Let me go! Who are you?!"

The smoke finally clears, revealing a brunette woman with a purple stripe in her hair. Her clothes are torn up, looking like if she came from a battle. Looking at her face, she looks utterly pissed. It's not clear where she came from, but feels like she isn't from around here.

Eventually, she lets Joey go, faintly tries to say, "I-I'm.. Ru- Ru.." Joey fills in the blank sentence by saying, "Ruth? Your name is Ruth?"

She looks at him with an upset but confused look, like if she had no idea if that's her name. But she shakes off and just goes with it, "Y-yea. Me" points at herself, ".. Ruth.."

Ruth tries to stand up, and Joey is shocked to see how tall she is. She does appear to be human, but wow, towering above Joey's head. He can look at her boobs just by looking straight.

"Am I on Earth?" Ruth askes again. Joey is confused but he says that she is and that she's on the Downhill Park. Ruth again is confused as she has no idea what that is. She takes a deep breath, cleans herself up and looks down on him and asks, "Are you in need of a protector?"

"Wait, what? A protector? I don't know you and you don't know me, and you asking me if you want to be like a bodyguard to me?" Joey looks around to see if anyone else is around. Nope, they're both alone. "You're weak, and powerless, I sense you require someone to look after you. I can provide that for the meantime."

"Now just wait a minute, what are you trying to say?!" Joey questions. "You need me," Ruth says with an expressionless tone.

They both are just staring at each other. Joey tries to turn around and walk away, but Ruth follows him. "What are you doing?"

She doesn't say anything. But Joey keeps trying to walk away, and Ruth kept following him. Joey is getting uncomfortable, "Are you lost? Leave me alone! I don't ne-" he trips over a rock. As he falls and about to reach the ground, a sudden purple aura surrounds him, catching him midair. "What the?!" he sees Ruth with her hand out, hair purple strind on her hair glows and her hand is too. Joey sees her, "How- are you doing that?!" Ruth lifts him up and lands him on his feet. He takes a look at himself, no scratches, no bruises, no rashes, nothing. He's fine. He takes another look at Ruth, "Well, you're a magic girl, aren't ya?"

"It is my obci duty to protect the ones who I trust the most" Ruth talks like she has gotten out of boot camp. Joey shrugs, nods in agreement, "Yea, trust me. Okay. For starters, I'm Joey, Joey Prenda. Nice to meet you Ruth!"

Joey and Ruth both hear yelling from the distance, it sounded like someone was calling for Joey. He recognizes that voice, is that Kit he hears? Ruth moves in from of him in a battle pose, with her glowingness. "Wait, Ruth, don't do anything yet-" "Stand back, I sense danger ahead!"

They see a short cat girl walking fast, she looking around, approaching towards the pair and looks straight at them. "Hey Joey-" she looks up only to see Ruth glaring right at her, "WHOA WHOA, WHO IS THAT?! WHY IS SHE ALL RAGGED AND DIRTY." Ruth is about to attack her but Joey grabs her arm pulling her back. Ruth yells at her, calling her a monster, but Joey tries to explain that Kit is a friend and won't do anything. Ruth mumbles threats Kit, but then Joey again tries to calm her down. However, Ruth stands there and glares back at Joey, and she tells him, "Do not grab my arm." Joey quickly lets go and looks down awkwardly.

Kit looks at Joey, "Look, I'm sorry that I yelled at you. Let's make up by grabbing dinner, okay booboo?" Ruth looks at both at them, "We shall feast."

"Wait a minute, we don't even know who you are, girl. So get lost and leave both of us alone, okay?" Kit tells at Ruth. But then Joey steps in and explains, "Kit, this is Ruth. She's uhh... she is... an old friend who I ran into. Man we haven't talked in a while. But we could all go get something to eat!"

The girls both look at him confusingly. Joey smiles nervously, "Isn't that right, Ruth?" pats her with his shoulder. Ruth looks down thinking, and actually goes along with it, "Yes, that is true."

Kit then looks at Ruth confusingly. "Joey, can I talk to you for a second?" They both walk away and turn around, and Kit whispers, "How come I don't know her? I never seen a tall girl like that in my life." "Trust me, this will be good for the both of us! We can all get along, maybe even introduce to the guys later!"

Kit takes a look at Ruth, who is just looking at them. She sighs, and agrees to take her to dinner.

"Okay, Ruth, you're welcome to join us, just one more thing." Kit says. "What?" Ruth asks.

"When is Joey's birthday?" Kit tests her to see if she really knows him, which of course she doesn't. But Ruth doesn't say a thing."Come on, we haven't talk since like uhh.. high school. She's not gonna remember my birthday!" Joey steps in once again. Ruth then answers back, "I agree."

Kit makes a jealous face, like an anime character, "Whatever."

Everyone walks away, and all left the park. It's safe to say that wherever this brings us can lead to bigger events that will come in the later future. Not just for Joey but for Ruth as well.

I hope you enjoy this story as the first encounterment for both Joey and Ruth.

UPDATE 4/21/2023: So I changed up Ruth's design obviously, but I made her into her Wild design to fit in to the first encounter. I thought it makes sense when Joey first meets Ruth at the forest.
