Description

Hey everyone!  In case you missed it, I'm currently working for Aspen comics on their book Charismagic with Vince Hernandez.   Issue one is out now, here's the first 3 preview pages.  Hope you guys check it out.   Issue 2 should be out later next month.

Sorry for the lack of activity on here.   I'm most active on instagram and Facebook these days.  So if you wish to see my most current posts, go there.

Make sure you guys check out Charismatic on comixology or at your local comic store. Worked very hard on this book.

Thanks for all the continued support!

God bless!

symmetry i cam see each panel has flow of three with the use of black. the bird eye view i can see an equal balance between white and black adding you only have three key points highlighted. floor. the girl and the other guys head.

This is a really amazing page. Really love how you have used the black to make one character stand out more then others. It makes everything else feel blurry, even though it's not.

This looks really good. Congratulations on the job! It's been awesome watching your journey to become a comic book pro!
Question; Is there a rule for when to break the panel?
When do you like to break the panel?

It's kinda complicated by I'll do my best to explain.

There's three rules I like to think of when it comes to drawing a page.

First, you need to make sure the storytelling is clear and helps guide the reader's eyes through the page.  So we'll just call this "clear storytelling."

Second is page composition and spacing.  Making sure you have space for any dialogue "word bubbles" that are going to be in each panel.

The Third rule is, give the page something interesting to look at.  In this case, "the panel break" and "open panel."   Breaking panels should be used sparingly.   You should only really use it to help advance the storytelling.  In this case, the very next panel the reader will be looking at, is the one that is breaking the panel. So it makes sense to do it there.

Or lets say there's a build up of panels to where the last panel leads to a guy knocking someone out in the last panel.  This is where a panel break of the guy getting punched out of the panel will help convey the impact of the punch. Thus enhancing the storytelling and giving us "the reader" a fun panel to look at.

Hope that makes sense.
