Description The recent announcement of a “Wonderful Ways to Say No” reanimate collab on Twitter got me to thinking about Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue and thinking “What if they remade the special with all of the current reboots of the characters seen in the original special?” Thus this was created (Here's the original image if you want to compare) .

Kermit was the hardest part of this pic, due to the fact that I wanted to give him a CGI look without him being CGI. I’m not completely satisfied with the final result but I think it looks okay. Also in hindsight I probably should have made this pic at a larger file size.

That's what I thought. Also, I want to see if Disney can fix all the problems they had, and get to the facts. Make the message less-hammered down, and not to mention make it less annoying.

I don't know if a remake of Cartoon All-Starr would work since ya know most cartoons are made by people on drugs just sayin!

Considering the current opioid crisis, I think a "Cartoon All-Stars" reboot would be a fantastic way to train 2018 children about drug avoidance. Considering how wild and sometimes bizarre the original was, a huge space for improvements awaits and if the update involves DuckTales... it will be amazing!

I'll be perfectly honest. The way they've been redesigning some of these older cartoons nowadays is atrocious to me.

As this is clearly demonstrating, those new designs of Huey, Dewey, and Louie would have looked just as terrible in Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue as they already look in that embarrassing reboot of DuckTales. Because they're terrible designs. Why should we even want to consider the idea of that old special being remade this way, when we should just be thankful that it was made at a time when people had much higher standards for what cartoons should look like on television. We should just be glad that the vast majority of cartoons that were made back in the 80's and 90's still look as good as they do, and we should want our cartoons today to still look just as good as cartoons like the original DuckTales.

What I'm saying is... most of our newer cartoons in this decade have looked like trash, including reboots. I really want to see our cartoons return to those 80's/90's standards of drawing again.

Ah it's you! I remember you. You're the guy who once commented on my Mickey Mouse drawing on Tumblr that I was "better that that hack Paul Rudish" even though if you'll look at most of my other stuff you'll find it's in a similar art style (not to mention the fact that I'm a huge fan of those cartoons myself and have drawn fan art of them).

Though I must say I find it odd that you hate modern cartoons and anything that's CGI, yet you dedicate all of your time to complaining about them and even commenting on fan art of them to show off the fact that you hate them. If you hate them, why look up fan art of them? Shouldn't you do something better with your time? Like how about talking about stuff you enjoy or creating something new? I remember you used to do some artwork but now it seems like you just make hate memes all the time.

Also, you really think the new designs of Huey, Dewey and Louie are terrible? Do you really think the designs where they just stay clones of each other with the only difference between them being their colors is the superior version as opposed to them having their own hair styles, outfits, and unique personalities?

I get it, we did have some unique stuff back in the day, like Animaniacs, Tiny Toons, and the stuff from the original Disney Afternoon lineup, but you've got to understand that stuff wasn't the norm, those were the exceptions. The 80s and 90s weren't eras where every cartoon turned to gold. In fact most of it was pretty awful.

Bud, if you think I was trying to prove your point that the new shows are ugly, you've come to the wrong place. I don't hate these new reboots, I love them to pieces. This wasn't meant to say "Look how ugly these are", this was meant to say "look at how our art styles have changed in around 30 years, isn't it interesting how these characters and art styles have changed." It's meant to celebrate differences and not to hate them.

The past had some great stuff, but the present has some amazing stuff too. It's important to look past the cloud of nostalgia and judge things on their own merit.

In short if you get stuck in the past, you won't have a future.

What does Paul Rudish even have to do with Mickey Mouse's art? He storyboarded two of the 2013 shorts and was supervising director for two more and that's it www.imdb.com/name/nm0748796/

Far as I can tell, executive producer is NOT an art department job.

He's had more artistic involvement with Batman TAS, Samurai Jack, Sym-Botic Titan, the original Powerpuff Girls, Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003), Dexter's Lab and MLPFiM than he ever did with Mickey Mouse.

ToonEGuy Either way, calling him a hack because you don't like the new show when he did art jobs for all those older shows (especially Clone Wars, Batman TAS and Samurai Jack which are widely regarded as being among the best cartoons of all time) is pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

Well she may not have been what started it anyway and Lenin and McCartney might have some of the blame themselves sure but her being around definitely didn't help matters and that's why people blame her for it, easy to see where that would come from.

I think the important thing though is that they've all moved on by now and so should the fans.

Also, I would recommend reading this if you want an idea of why I think the new art style for DuckTales is bad.

DuckTales, and Thoughts on Character Design So, I was excited to learn a while back that Disney is producing new DuckTales cartoons... excited, but understandably, a little trepidatious. With recent, more "modernized" attempts at revisiting the classics in today's largely lackluster cartoon landscape, (i.e. "The Looney Tunes Show") it's hard not to be a little concerned. And besides, do these cartoons even need to be "modernized" in the first place? Such are the thoughts that bounce around in my wacky little noggin...
Anyway, fast forward to a few weeks ago, when Disney released their first image of the new incarnation:
(You can read more about it here.)
So, I thought I'd take the opportunity to share my thoughts...
Positive #1: First off, it looks like they're keeping the tone of the original series in tact, with an action/adventure bent; instead of the brainless, stupid comedy

ToonEGuy In reply to JoeyWaggoner [2018-09-15 16:03:36 +0000 UTC]

For someone who calls himself an artist, you are hopelessly wrong and naive about what good art direction in cartoons really looks like, and for that you are never getting a watch from me. Good art direction is 1987 DuckTales. Bad art direction is the reboot.

But I have no intention of turning this into an argument, so I will just take myself out now. And don't worry, I have every intention of wanting to get back into drawing more myself again, since I realize that I've fallen into a rut with that.

Wait, there's a new Reanimated collab? Is it for the entire special, or just this song? And where'd you find out about it?

It's going to be just the song. It was started on Twitter by VivziePop (creator of the upcoming Hazbin Hotel and the webcomic Zoophobia): twitter.com/VivziePop/status/1…

Various concepts and WIP shots can be found on the Twitter hashtag #Allstarsreanimate .

I kinda wish I could join one of these Reanimated projects, but it's hard to know when one of them will show up. I've been waiting for a good chance to be able to stretch my wings in animation a bit more.

(Speaking of which, did you see The Dover Boys Reanimated? That one is hilarious.)
