Recently I thought it would be interesting to draw Derpy's parents.

Her mom is an original pony designed by me by the name of Shimmering Heart. I decided to make her a unicorn because I thought it might be a possibility that in Derpy's family the unicorn gene is one of those things that skip a generation, which means Derpy could give birth to Dinky. Plus I thought her mom being a unicorn could be an interesting idea.

Brony's will recognize Derpy's Dad in this picture as her Boss from the episode "Feeling Pinkie Keen". By the way if you are asking "What about the jelly pony?" he's her uncle in this version. Anyways returning to the package pony, the reason why I decided to make him Derpy's dad is because I thought about how interesting it would be if one of the reasons Derpy's a mail mare is because it's part of the family business. Maybe she feels a lot of pressure because of that and ends up making mistakes. Plus it's obvious from his appearance in "Feeling Pinkie Keen" that Derpy's Dad has a short fuse compared to Derpy's silly nature which makes for good comedy. By the way, does he have a name yet? I've heard some people refer to him as Boxy Brown and others refer to him as Crafty Crate. If any one knows his fannon name please say so in the comments below.
