Description This comic was originally inked in 2011 (right after I made this comic: [link] ), I didn't finish it until today, this is why Luna has her season 1 design.

How did Luna get to Sesame Street? The same way Lyra got to Fraggle Rock.

It's a happy cry, not a sad one. Besides, Jim Henson is supposed to make people feel. It's what he did best.

Yeah, Poor Luna. I wonder if Luna feels the same thing for that bridegroom from the song "Don't Walk". As in the song where the bridegroom wants to marry his bride at the wedding but cannot cross the street, All because of the pesky sign that reads "Don't Walk". I remember the refrain line went: "Darling, Our Marriage is Doomed. Here stands, Your heartbroken groom. Wedding bells are ringing just over one block. But the sign, The sign says Don't Walk. Yes the sign, It says Don't Walk."

I'm sooo sorry to say this, but what's sooo special about Sesame Street? I just do not understand. Sorry if I offend you with my "I don't get it" question.

The same thing that makes My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic so special. While it's obviously intended for a younger audience, there is a lot of attention placed on making it entertaining for all ages. There are some jokes that only adult viewers will get, such as in a recent YouTube interview where Elmo said something along the lines of "Mommy and Daddy say it's a buyer's market," and many sketches that are just plain funny for anyone. Look up the Big Hamburger sketch with Grover some time or just about any Bert and Ernie sketch. They're just plain funny.

Of course, everyone has their own interests and sense of humor. Maybe it's just not your cup of tea and never was. But that's why I still enjoy it, at least.

Is it all okay if I say I was and perhaps now a big fan of Blues Clues?

FractiousLemon In reply to NathanArtDumpGround [2012-04-25 14:28:40 +0000 UTC]

It was all okay to begin with! *laughs* I wasn't mad at you at all. Just figured I'd offer my two cents on why Sesame Street is remembered so fondly and continues to be viewed even by adults.

As for Blues Clues, I can't fault you there either. That was another childrens' show that featured some fun all-ages humor in it and even had the occasional humorous line meant for the parents watching to enjoy.

Heck, most of my favorite programs are shows just like that. It takes wit and talent to make a program of quality that manages to be appropriate for all ages and I appreciate the efforts made by those who try. Mind you, I also love some adult-only shows (mostly on the internet) like the Nostalgia Critic, Transylvania Television, and South Park, but my favorites will always be things like the Muppet Show. Good clean fun never gets old.

Exactly. As the masters themselves said:

"Imagination has brought mankind through the Dark Ages to its present state of civilization. Imagination led Columbus to discover America. Imagination led Franklin to discover electricity. Imagination has given us the steam engine, the telephone, the talking-machine and the automobile, for these things had to be dreamed of before they became realities.Β The imaginative child will become the imaginative man or woman most apt to create, to invent, and therefore to foster civilization." ~ L. Frank Baum

""Why do we have to grow up? I know more adults who have the children's approach to life. They are not afraid to be delighted with simple pleasures, and they have a degree of contentment with what life has brought - sometimes it isn't much, either. Adults are interested if you don't play down to the little 2 or 3 year olds or talk down. I don't believe in talking down to children. I don't believe in talking down to any certain segment. I like to kind of just talk in a general way to the audience." ~ Walt Disney

"The most sophisticated people I know - inside they are all children. When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope is to leave the world a little better for having been there." ~ Jim Henson

"You know, you don't have to look like everybody else to be acceptable and to feel acceptable. Knowing that we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.Β When I say it's you I like, I'm talking about that part of you that knows that life is far more than anything you can ever see or hear or touch. That deep part of you that allows you to stand for those things without which humankind cannot survive. Love that conquers hate, peace that rises triumphant over war, and justice that proves more powerful than greed." ~ Mr. Rogers

Honestly, it was Jim Henson's sense of humor and fun that brought the series to life. Some of the clips still make me laugh to this day.

Some people, me included, grew up in a time when TV was a LOT more innocent, and Sesame Street was a part of that experience. I know I grew up on Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, and Mister Rogers. PBS was the shit back then.
