Description

- C’rizz, listen to me! You need to recapture those souls and put them back into your absolver. (…)

- It is worthless, now. It has served its purpose. It was only ever an elaborate key to unlock a far greater vessel. You see, the actual absolver… is me. (…) I am not an angel of death, Doctor, but an angel of life everlasting!

Great illustration. This story just broke my heart. Eighth broke my heart. As you said in your review, hellish setting, incredibly made, I could just picture everything. And since I am a big fan of Dante's... Well, not much can be said, I feel just like Charley even though I knew he was a murderer. C'rizz is one of the best companion ever and he had a most tragic exit. And I just stood in disbelief when Charley figured it out - the Doctor wanted everything to be before the Divergent universe. I don't think I ever actually hated the Doctor for anything, even for his behavior in the Divergent arc. Not ever for during the episodes and stories I've experienced. But I sure do hate him for this. C'rizz deserved more. He trusted the Doctor. It wasn't fair.

Yes, it wasn't fair at all. I didn't hate Eight for this, though ; as much as I totally understand Charley's reaction, I kinda understand his reaction too. He never really trusted C'rizz, and knew he was a murderer as sound as his Church was mentioned. Then there's the fact that he tried to kill Charley several times. Also, with C'rizz out of the equation, I suppose Eight feels free to try to forget what he went through in the Divergent Universe. All of this doesn't justify his attitude by any mean, but it certainly explains it.

Oh, and if that broke your heart, well, let's just say I listened to The Girl Who Never Was one afternoon after work, and I was still sobbing when my boyfriend came back home TWENTY MINUTES after it stopped. I mean, it's a wonderful episode, it's funny and all kinds of clever and epic, but that ending is also horribly cruel.
