Description
This lovely girl listens to the name Aline. I found her a couple of weeks ago while I logged in at Deviantart. She was busy with uploading her gallery, so you can say that I caught her redhanded.I left a short message on her account in which I expressed my appreciation for her stock. I can remember that she responded in a nice way. When I found this specific picture I knew that this would be ´the one´ that would be one of my future artworks. And finally, here it is.
I could have finished it earlier, but I felt sooooo lazy. Like some of you know, I created my current ID instead of finishing an artwork. But hey, somehow taking that short break helped.
I got a lot of questions about my technique. But please don´t get mad about the fact that I never go into details. In some of my future journals I´ll explain why. Anyhow, this one is created with brushes only. Brushes where stamped with solid colours, but I also brushed with textures and patterns. Light, shadow, sharpness and contrast are one of the most significant elements of my work. Another thing that can be recognized as mine is the use of ´old´ and antique colors. Ofcourse I have some favourite brushes. Some of them will return in each artwork. Ha, ha, I just like those ravens.
Just one more thing about Aline. She received the famous ´one week subsribtion´ from DA. But I know that she want´s something more permanent. So if you can afford it, please donate her a subscribtion.

Stunning work!! The glow and use of lights in your pieces and this in particular, reminds me of the great artists and how they portraued light so long time ago. You really have a unique and very intruiging way of creating your works, they go straight to my heart! They feel strong, yet fragile, they remind me of an era that no longer exists, but still they are here now. Sorry for rambling now, but they really affect me these works of yours!!!! Bravo!!!
(btw, i got here through a dedication to you in one of her last works)

Good God, John, you know how to make a girl cry. I think it has something to do with the detail around the eyes. It seems like she's almost trying to shield them so she won't have to see reality. This is just splendid!

Your words are a good translation to things that your eyes see when looking at this artwork. It's nice to hear that you especially mentioned her eyes. They were meant to be the eye catcher of this artwork. Thanks for your very open comment

The eyes are just so striking. I can't help but remember the cliche, "The eyes are the windows of the soul." Her soul looks guarded.

Hey thanks again for stopping by Chris. Thanks also for your comment. I really appreciate it
I always hope that people get inspired by my work. They don't have to create fantasyart their self. As long as they can follow their own path and find some sort of motivation to explore more things, to get better and to get better skills by practising. Sooo, hang in there bro

...I stumbled across your pictures. This one wowed me to know end. I've been analyzing it for about 20 minutes and at first I almost villianized her, but then I began to really like her. The key and the music...beautiful. The chaos flowing behind her, but her confident look paradox. The raven and the ring really intrigue me, though.
Well...I'm not an expert. One year of Humanities and loving Giotto and I think I'm a genius *grins*. But this piece sort of spoke to me. Especially the music.

I was finally able to come and look at your new art, and wow.... it is truly stunning, John. I adore how you are meticulous in what you select to add to the piece, choosing just the right elements to give it that magical quality you do so well.
I can understand why you do not share too much about how you achieve your 'look'. While I wholly support the artistic community, there are some things that, as an artist, you should safeguard. Unique styles are hard to come by, and when you have a winning recipe, it is sometimes best not to reveal the secret ingredients.
For me, it's wonderful simply to be able to look at your art. I don't want to know how it's done, I just want you to keep doing it.

Ah prince charming has done it again... worked his charms on a simple stock image and made it into an incredible art. This piece is so serene and he gaze draws one into an unknown depth. Somehow that tiny raven in the right upper edge drew a lot of my intention. I would interpret that he is symbolisizing something, as ravens are often use as messengers. But I am not sure what it is in this piece. I was never good at analyzing. Be that as it may, I simply love the piece and will add it to my favs.
And as I already said in one of my other comments. Guard your technique and keep it a secret, or otherwise your pieces will loose their mystique, because the style will be copied all over. It would be too tempting for many an artist, I would not exclude myself, to try and achieve a similar style, I would guess.
