I use a giant PEZ dispenser as reference. It just has the body though not the legs.

I own that too. Usually I look for old TV stills in back issues of Starlog or on the web. There's also a difference from the TV version of the robot and the toy & Pez dispenser version put out in the `90's by Trendmasters/Playing Mantis. The torso is different from onscreen. No toy or model kit manufacturer has corrected it yet.

There are different versions on screen as well. One thing I notice the most are the yellow and red things on either side of the neck sometimes are silver, or one of them will be silver for a shot.

I forgot to notify you. I think Moebius models is putting out a 12", more accurate LIS Robot model with the correct torso and proportions. Check CultTVman.com for preview pics. It looks great!
